How can you say that with such conviction? Having a muslim sounding name does not make one a muslim. Nowadays many hindus and christians are naming their daughters Ayesha, does that mean these girls are muslims? No.
The two top Khans in the film industry, Amir and Shahrukh are both married to hindu women. Shahrukh stars in an ad. for wisky and I read somewhere that Amir got drunk just to play the role of a drunkard in some movie. All actors are constantly doing scenes which is clearly kufr, going to temples and bowing their heads at those statues etc.
Allah knows best what is in their hearts but if actions were any judgement of a persons iman, then can these ppl be called muslims?

Wallahu alam

I thought we were not allowed to judge whether someone is a kaafir on this board.

That is not a judgement and I believe that that does not violate the rules.

P.S. Can we have more information regarding Jansher Khan?

abc, as long as someone:

1.  Does not openly renounce Islam
2.  Does not openly ridicule/disgrace Islam or its principles

AND as long as we do not have a khilaafah

I cannot point a finger to an individual who carries a Muslim name AND calls himself a Muslim, and say that he/she is a non-Muslim.

Therefore, all the Khans in the movie industry are Muslims, as far as we are concerned.

True Islam is something that is in the heart, and is only known to Allah.  In Allah's standard, I even question my *own* Islam!  (see Maududi's "Let Us be Muslims" for more on this).

If I understand correctly, the original question was only asking whether or not these actors *claimed to be* Muslims, and not the actual state of their heart.

And to that, my answer remains a 'yes.'

Wassalamu alaikum.

Surely this can't be true, akhee. True Islam is not just a conviction in the heart, otherwise the Propht's uncle Abu Talib would have been in Paradise.

Imaan (faith)consists of three things (as taught by Imam Bukhari & the ulama at large):
- a conviction in the heart
- statements on the tongue
- actions by the limbs

The issue of people who are Muslim by name, yet because of no justifiable reason have no actions to prove their imaan is aserious one. Can a person have imaan just because of a statement on the tongue? Whenever Allah describes the good people in the Qur'an He says, "Verily those who believe and do righeous actions...", thus, what is in the heart HAS to manifest itself in some actions on the limbs.

And these indian actors ... subhanallah ... they are amongst the imaams of our time leading the Muslim youth astray, by way of their unislamic behaviour on and off the screen, by pushing concepts that strike at the heart of what it means to be a Muslim. Have you not seen their effect on the Muslim kids akhee?

If you guys wish, i'll start posting notes from the set of lectures that Sh. Wajdi Ghazzawi gave here on what Imaan actually is.

Hmm we tried to ban the.. 'he's a kaffir, she's a kaffir' kind of discussion.... i'm wondering if we should now ban the 'i can call someone a kaffir, i can't call someone a kaffir' ? can't we get past this and discuss something more beneficial? The topic of Iman sounds like a good way to go.. What are the branches of Iman.. how can we attain them....?

Kashif, I agree with everything you wrote.  BUT, I would still refrain from calling any such actors as non-Muslims.  They may be sinners, but I would not make takfeer against them for reasons I stated in my earlier post.  Besides, I think the original question was asking whether or not these people were Muslims 'by claim.'

Wallahu a'lam.

I wonder if he would come over to the UK to preach Islam and teach me Squash properly. I bet I'd give him a run for his money, with my back hand.

May Allah accept his deeds. Ameen.

they still consider themselves as muslims ...just like dodi fayed did..or...his dad did..muslim burial etc..n re shah rukh's hindu wife lol he gave the reason/ tried to justify it with..'in islam, there is no compulsion in religion' :P so...they still consider themselves muslims whether we think they practice or understand it properly or not...

btw..i didn't know the squash player still played.
interesting..whatever happened to junaid jamsheed? i thought he got back into 'the deen' etc with a grp...went for training...n then what happened? he decided to get back to the music biz? just curious b/c i remem reading something about that some time back..what happened? or was that it?
