In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalaamu Alaikum:

As of June 1, approximately seventy percent of the work of The Peace And Justice Foundation was temporarily suspended until further notice. (This includes our National Public Education & Mobilization Campaign for Imam Jamil A. Al-Amin.) Some of you may have already noticed that we haven't sent out any of our highly informative communiques in about three weeks or so. The bottom line is that we are not receiving sufficient material support to continue this work with the integrity and effectiveness required.

FINAL TRIPS:
Insha'Allah, I will travel to Raleigh, NC, this Friday (June 15th) to give the Jumah address at Shaw University; and later, to Atlanta, Ga., on Thursday, June 28th for the next round of motions hearings in Imam Jamil's case. While in Atlanta for this trip (insha'Allah) I am also planning to speak at the Community Mosque on the West End, so that I might bring a few very important issues to the attention of the community. (These will be the final campaign related out-of-town trips until further notice!)

Insha'Allah, in the Friday address I intend to include:
- an examination of the Timothy McVeigh case, and how it could impact on the case of Imam Jamil;

- touch upon the significance of the "in camera" proceedings (you heard it right, "classified testimony") that took place in last month's motions hearing in Imam Jamil's case; and the
surveilance cameras that were mounted in the court, for "security" purposes;

- the excellent University of California (UC-Berkley) rally for Palestine that was held a couple of months ago. (My comments at that rally, and also at Masjid At-Taqwa, the Friday before last,
touched on how closely connected the Palestine, Apartheid South Africa, and African-American human rights struggles are; and why it is for this reason that every effort is being made to keep the African American community away from the Palestine issue.)

UPCOMING EVENTS:
Over the next three months there will be three very important opportunities for increased mobilization around Imam Jamil's case:
1). The July 2001 Annual Riyaadah, that will be held this year in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania;

2). The August 2001 National Conference on the Case of Imam Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin, hosted by The Peace And Justice Foundation. (Insha'Allah, in addition to the capable Muslim speakers, we
also expect to have a number of prominent "Civil Rights" and former "Black Liberation" leaders (i.e., former Panthers and the like) involved in this very important conference);

3). The National Rally in September 2001, in Atlanta, Georgia, spearheaded by MANA, Women In Islam, MSA National, and a number of other Muslim groups.

AN APPEAL FOR YOUR SUPPORT:
Let me begin with a heartfelt shukran (thanks!) to those of you who have consistently supported you humble efforts. Without you (by the grace and mercy of Allah Ta'ala) The Peace And Justice Foundation could not have come as far as it has. Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou - for your support and TRUST. We pray that you will continue, and others will join in the effort.

Not long ago a brother in North Carolina asked me if we could accept credit card contributions; at the time, however, we could not.
