Questioning...

asalaamu alaikum everyone,

hey it's been a really long time since I posted... I was on a trip to India for 3 weeks and I hope I can tell u all my stories there AS WELL as my account of how I came to Islam...

but since I acceptd Islam, for a while I had no questions for a while... my Iman grew as I secretly practised and prayed on the rooftop hiding from my Hindu family...

I learned on my own, reading at night and sometimes I would steal away on a rickshaw to a nearby masjid...

I actually was dismayed to see how some muslims interact there... I think there are a lot of things muslims today need to fix about themselves before we look beyond...

so I have some questions and doubts in my mind every once in  while... it's not like my faith is dwindling or I am falling out of salaat and trying ot be a good person, but sometimes, I read something and think "hmmm..." or think, "but what about...?"

is it okay to question? And no, I don't want to question my local moulana because... well... I like to go outside for asking those kind of questions.

I don't want ot disrespect Islam so Idon't ask out loud...

Is there a rulin or hadith on questioning? thanks in advance guys. asalaamu alaikum. take it easy. abdullah,.

Yes it is ok to question. Like you said your questioning isn't like those who were questioning Musa (A) in Surah Baqarah, (The Cow). Your intentions are to understand Islam, not to put it down.

Have you read the book "Even Angles Ask." It's by Dr. Jeffery Lang. And athiest who converted to Islam. You should read it.

Sometimes people argue for the sake of argument and sometimes people question just for the sake of questioning. Like some philosphy professors at college who think they are so smart and clever.  :)

Allah has given us the knowledge to almost everything. The knowledge that he has kept away from us, it's futile to question that. For instance, how can God have no beginning and no end? Or, what is the essense of God?

Hey Brother Abdullah!! Nice to see you back Alhumdulillah! I was wondering where you were!!

Anyway, it's great to see you're still as strong as before in your faith. I was a little afraid maybe that Hindu scholar had gotten to you!

Brother, keep asking questions! You know Islam is so logical, you can question it, turn it around and upside down and still only find truth and logic! So keep at it until you have the Shaytan driven out!! He's the one whispering these questions in your ear.

Anyway, keep postin' and keep us informed Insha Allah.
