Public stalls???

Assalamu ‘alaikum!

I was wondering if anyone knew what to do in this situation...

Is it okay for us to wipe over our scarves when doing wudu in public?  I’ve been to a couple sites, and one pretty much said, "go ahead"...and the other one suggested that we have a bowl or a pitcher handy so that we can go into a bathroom stall and perform proper wudu in there...

But trust me...there is *no way* I can do wudu in a university pubic washroom stall!! ):(

And if we can wipe over our scarves...what about the washing of the ears???

Jazakallah kheir

I was just thinking about the same thing!! I always get funny looks when i go to make wudu in a public restroom. I know they're thinking, "why is that girl taking off her socks just to wash her hands???"  So what does everyone do about this? I just go ahead and take off my hijab and my socks and shoes and ignore the looks.  And it would always be especially funny in the dorm bathrooms when i would just stick my feet right under the faucet in the sink to wash my feet, hehe.

I don't know about wiping over headscarf, but it is allowed to wipe over socks.  You have to ensure that feet were washed before wearing a clean pair of socks.

I make wudu at university too.  Yep I do get weird looks and some evenflee from the the toilets without washing their hands because they don't want to watch the sisters making wudu for zuhr prayer.  It doesn't really bother me now.  I admit that at first it does make you feel a bit self-conscious.  Now I just make full wudu and go to prayer.

Assalamu 'alaium!

*Whew!* ;-D
I don't mind doing wudu in the restrooms either...it was just that I had heard you are not allowed to remove your hijab if you are afraid that another woman will describe you to others...???

But yeah, when I'm making wudu, that's the time when I receive the most questions from non-Muslims :)

and...tee hee...I've had women flee in terror as well *oh my goodness! not only are we allowed out of the house...but we're actually allwed to take IT off!!!* hahaha :) :)

From what I have heard it's allowed to wipe over socks as well as hijabs provided you follow the right conditions.. ie make wudu at home etc.
