wa alaykum as salaam wa rahmatAllahi wa barakatuh,

I think that, in the same way we may look to a tree and see that it resembles a man in ruku', or a fish with a complex design on it's scales that spells out 'Allah', the configuration of the stars can be made out to resemble images from stories from the Qur'an..

There are many verses in the Qur'an that mention that Allah created all that is on earth - the seasons, the animals, the mountains, the oceans, the variations in our colors and languages, as well as the sky, the clouds, the moon, the sun, and the stars in all their beauty and grandeur to serve as ayaat for us, that upon reflection will help us realize our Creator and acknowledge this purpose of ubudiyyah we share..

And because of this, studying and reflecting upon the world around us is something that Allah asks us to do.. because serious contemplation of all that surrounds us in nature can do nothing but increase us in certainty that Allah is our Creator and that He alone is worthy of our prayer, sacrifice, life and death.

The stars already profess to us the certainty that Allah is our Lord, not by the pictures they may forge, but by the simple awe inspiring nature of their being...

"..countless billions of stars and galaxies move in their seperate orbits yet in total harmony.  Galaxies consisting of almost 300 billion stars flow through each other and, astonishingly, during this gigantic transition no collisions occur... Stars and planets, with masses of billion or trillions of tons, and galaxies, wtih size that can only be grasped with the help of mathematical formulae, all whirl along their particular paths in space at incredible velocities.. there is an incredible equilibrium within all this dynamic movement and it reveals that life on earth is based on a very delicate balance.  Very slight, even millimetric variations in the orbit of the heavenly bodies could result in very serious consequences.. The present order of the universe with the almost negligible number of collisions of which we know, simply make us think that a perfect, stable and secure environment surround us..people never reflect very much upon such matters.. they never discern the extraordinary web of interlocking conditions that makes life possible on earth.."
