As'salaamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

Dear Muslim Brothers and Sisters,

I have titled my article WAKE UP! for the reason that we as a Muslim Ummah need to wake up concerning the issue; ABUSE.  I have noticed that a lot of people believe that just because the word Muslim goes before the persons name that means that they are exempt from doing anything wrong.  We as people sometimes dont understand that just because we are Muslim does not mean that we cannot fall into sin.  I have decided to write this article so people can be aware that even Muslims do bad thngs and that it has NOTHING to do with Islam.

This is very sad indeed that an article has to be written concerning this sick issue within the Muslim community. But it needs to be addressed and we cannot keep denying it anymore that will only make it continue even stronger, what we must do is BREAK THE SILENCE and STOP DENYING IT!! We as an Ummah are not perfect, all of us have had something happen to us in the past although it may or may not have anything to do with abuse. But now it is time to talk and be open concerning issues that could hurt and affect our children. It is time to Understand this issue further........

I have read so many articles that Muslim families are being investigated reguarding Child Abuse accusations.  Our first thought when reading this type of thing is to not believe that this happend within a Muslim family and protest and protect. I am not saying we shouldnt do this but what I am saying is this: if an accusation is brought on by anybody (be it Kaffir or not) on a Muslim family then at least to me it should not be taken lightly. I think that you shouldnt belive it straight off but it should be investegated. The children need to be asked extensivly by people who know how,  steps should be taken to make sure nothing is happening to the children.

We need to understand something. When a person sexually and or physically abuses a child or anyone else; it means they have a sickness. Its not something they do because they are not married and need a women (that is just a sick excuse. What about men that abuse boys? Please! )  it is because their hearts are diseased as Allah ta'aala says
(I wil add an ayah about disease hearts Insha'Allah as soon as I can find it!)

I am not saying that all Brother or Sisters are bad, I am just saying that we need to be cautious about who we leave our children with.  Parents should listen to their children instead of just saying "You are making that up, or, its in your imagination". Please educate and listen to your children. Kids are never to young to learn that "If ANYONE touches you anywhere (and dont be afraid to point where you mean) even if it feels good come and tell mommy or daddy".. But even this may not get your child to tell you, that is why we must be as cautious as possible.    Because often time the perpatraitor will use the childs body against them, doing things that they know will feel good because our body cannot help it.  Its like this;  rub your leg. Doesnt that feel nice and comforting? Well that is exactly what sick perverted people do to make the child feel bad and guilty so they will not tell.

It is up to us as parents to protect our children from ever becoming victims of this hideous crime.  We must teach them to to always come to us if something ANYTHING ever happens that makes them feel bad. Do not ignore signs that something may be wrong with your child, like he/she may become distant and far away, he/she may be always depressed and tired, he/she may not want to go with a certain person and may scream and yell if you try to make them. Read, for their are many books to learn signs that your child may express if something is wrong, and if you do find that something is wrong do not deny it for that will only hurt your child even more, but question them and pay attention!  I am not saying these are sure fire signs but what I am saying is that they need to be investigated further. We must teach our children to love Allah ta'aala and to always abide by what He says.

Insha'Allah let us become more aware of our surrounding and to be cautious with whom we intrust our children with. May Allah help and guide us all to do what is right and to help us protect our children the best that we can. Allah huma Ameen! Insha'Allah.

A Sister in Islam
