Has anyone read this Booker prize winning novel by Arundhati Roy. What do you think of its narrative style? |

Alaikum Salam Well, the author has brought her childhood to life. Her description is fresh and inspiring. Anyways its not a religious book* Critics have called it a semi-fictional story although the author's own experiences unfolds in some parts of the book. As any other modern novel, it suffers from obscenity as well. But the best part of the the vivid desciption of nature and the effects of modernisation in contemporary indian society. Can't say more than that. :) This is the only novel I have ever completed reading. It doesn't have any message or purpose as such. Purpose or meaning is what makes a work worthy (according to Rumi). :) Jaihoon |

Yes I read it because I come from Kerala India. I dont know if I liked it more because it was set around Kerala or of I found it was a good book. But I did like it :) If you liked it too then you may have the same taste in books as me. here are some other books I liked. I liked: memoirs of a Geisha by Arther Golden and sold by Zana Muhsen |

'If u lot like readin books, theres a book called "purification of the soul", I'll tell u da name of da auther soon as i find out' why do we have so many da's? Why is it the people that enjoy literature on this board fail to use proper english? What is this eternal love for slang? Shakespere would be turning in his grave! |

slm, I read "The God of Small Things." I thought it was really good. I don't know, something about it--about her writing style, really just appealed to me. There were some parts I found rather disturbing, but all in all, it was a good read, sad, but good. Take Care, Wassalam, Nazia |
