| Asaalamu Alaikum I have been told by someone that the drinks Coca Cola and pepsi are Haram as they contain alcahol, which is not listed in the ingredents. Is this true? |

| wa alaykum as salaam wa rahmatAllah, Check out [url=http://www.jannah.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl/YaBB.pl?board=bebzi&action=display&num=3796]this[/url] thread for a discussion on this topic, specifically brother bhaloo's post. Basically what's been said is that because the amount of alcohol in carbonated drinks is so negligible, they are permissable to drink.. in the same way chocolate and bread has this minute amount and are still permissible to consume. I think the basic rule is that if something can make you intoxicated in large amounts, then even in small amounts it is haram to consume. Trust me, drinking a lot of pepsi does not make you intoxicated. I would know ;) Maybe a little hyper... ;-D wAllahu 'alam. take care wasalaamu alaykum. |
