new writing genre!

wow... who knew there was a whole new genre style of writing called the 'away message'

check these out!

The notorious Shaytan, mastermind of the material intelligence ring Kuffar, is seeking revenge on Muslims after being dismissed from Paradise with the charge of arrogance toward his Creator. Sources show that he is using the spiritually lethal weapon NAFS which distracts from remembrance of Allah to lure unsuspecting servants from the Straight Path and blow them into Hell.

Your mission Abd, should you choose to accept it, is to resist Shaytan, overcome the Nafs, and get to the Straight Path. You must trek through the valley of Tazkiya and enter Ilm from Tawba. There you will meet your guide Rasulullah. Consult the Quran for further instruction.

As always, should you be caught the Angel will disavow any knowledge of your sins and you will be brought back to your Lord. This message will self destruct on the Day of Judgement.

"...Try to pass your mornings and evenings in a state where your heart is free from all ill feelings, jealousy and hatred for everyone, and remember that this is my sunnah [way], and he who loves my sunnah will be with me in paradise."
- Muhammad, peace be upon him

"Can you imagine the silence if everyone said only what he knows?"

"You only live once - but if you do it right, once is enough."

"I saw Shaitan  in a dream.  I was standing on a roof, and HE was standing on the roof next to me. All around him were people with nur around them. Then Shaitan turned to the Right and said " saay", and they started chanting soo beautifully that I wanted to jump off the roof. Then he turned to the left and said, "dance" and they started dancing beautifully.
Then he turned to me and said, " I have found no other way into ur hearts!."

"The word a-shams (the sun) is feminine,
and qamar (moon) is masculine. The sun burns itself to give light and life to everything around, and the moon is muneer,
meaning it reflects the light. Within itself it has no light; it radiates the brilliance of the sun.   So when we shine as men, the implication is that we are reflecting the glorious light of our women. May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala be pleased with them."

hehe, yup, as i was reading the Shaikh Abdullah Adhami quote it sounded very familiar and I remembered that I had heard it on a tape of his from his Gender Relations Series.  It's beautifully put and so I had to make it an away message! :)  I have so many away messages now, that 3 whole lists come up when i go to choose from an away message- does anyone else have that problem too? :)

And i really like that first one a lot! Is there a copy right to it or can i make it yet another one of my away messages too? hehe, i'll even put it in quotes if you like ;)

Sorry to sound a bit stupid but what exactly is an "away message"?  Are we talking about the "Out of Office Assistant" type thing on e-mail programs??????

slm,

we're talking about the away message feature in AIM (AOL instant Messenger).. you can basically put whatever you want in it :) so while you're not there to talk to people, you can still remind them of something beneficial :)

What an away message.

Do you think that you are too weak to fight the cowardly Hindus, who
were present in their hundreds of thousands in the Kashmir valley, but
were unable to dispose of a few thousand mujahideen? Or are you afraid
of the superpower America, whose counterpart the Soviet Union you
already defeated in Afghanistan? Or are you afraid of the Jews, whose
army hides behind its tanks when the Muslim youth come out with nothing but stones? You are the lion who has been told that it cannot confront even the smallest of creatures. Just one strike of your limb will make clear to you the strength of the Muslim Ummah over all the other nations of the world.

Sleep is night begins my day
Dreams are real and near is away
I close my mind off from the light
My day is sleep begins by night

And for those who sleep by day... ;)

Sleep is day begins my night
Dreams are real and near is away
I close my mind off from the moonlight
My night is sleep begins by day

Knowledge is a comforting friend in times of loneliness, it is the best companion during travels, and it is the inner friend who speaks to you in your privacy. Knowledge is the discerning proof of what is right and what is wrong, and it is the positive force that will help you surmount the trials of comfort, as well as those of hardships. Knowledge is your most powerful sword against your enemy, and finally, it is your most dignifying raiment in the company of your close companions."
--- Mu`aadh ibn Jabal (radhiallahu `anhu)

What can my enemies do to me? My paradise
is in my breast. Wherever I go,it is with me.
My Murder is Shahada (martyrdom). My imprisonment is solitude with Allah (SWT).
And my exile is tourism."
-Ibn Taymiyyah (RA)-

"If you dont get up for Fajr, dont get up at all"
-Imam Hamza Yusuf

Ali Timimi quotes Hasan al-Basri as saying "In the past 25 years i have not said something or refrained from saying something, nor given something, nor refrained from giving something, nor taken a step forward, nor taken a step backward without first thinking "Would Allah be pleased with this action?"

This is truly the state of Ihsaan - worshipping Allah as though you see him, although you know that you do not see Him, but He sees you.

For the sake of completeness, my first statement was:

"Say what you have to say and move along"
-- Imam Hasan al-Banna

Once I asked an Islamic Teacher what his goal in life was. It is now my favorite thought and way of life-
He said "To please Allah swa."

"Do you see in me what you see in them??!!"
-Umar ibn al Khattab (RA), asking Hudhayfa ibn Al-Yaman

Hudhayfa ibn Al-Yaman was the "keeper of the Prophet's secrets". In particular, the Prophet (saws) would tell him who the hypocrites were, so that Hudhayfa could monitor them & protect the Muslims from their plots.
Umar (RA) would constantly try to figure out who the hypocrites were, esp. when he was the amir-al-mumineen, asking Hudhayfa indirectly, "Which of my appointed governers should I let go?" He would never tell Umar, but Umar would somehow figure it out on his own.
In any case, the companions of the Prophet (saws) were always preoccupied with how they measured up with Allah (swt), and once, Umar posed the above question (rather, probably shouted) to Hudhayfa, in reference to his knowledge of the hypocrites.

We should be even more preoccupied with that concern(!).

Hudhayfa, himself, is quoted as saying:
"There are four kinds of hearts.
The heart that is encased or atrophied. That is the heart of the kafir or ungrateful disbeliever. The heart that is shaped into thin layers. That is the heart of the munafiq or hypocrite.
The heart that is open and bare and on which shines a radiant light. That is the heart of the mumin or the believer.
Finally there is the heart in which there is both hypocrisy and faith.
Faith is like a tree which thrives with good water and hypocrisy is like an abscess which thrives on pus and blood. Whichever flourishes more, be it the tree of faith or the abscess of hypocrisy, wins control of the heart."
