Assalam u Alikum,
I have a question:I have very thick eyebrows since the begining and quite overgrown. SO,I plucked them a long time ago and like 2 yrs ago I heard its haram for a woman to do that. My question is,how can I stop now cause if I dont do it no more, they will be worse than they ever were. I have really dark hair and my eyebrows grow back real quick. Can anyone help me with this??Any help will be greatly apprecaited!!!
Allah Hafiz.

neways, my advice is stop plucking slowly!!!
1st let 1 or 2 subbles 4m, then let it grow,
let 1 or 2 bits grow n pluck the rest of the remaining stubbles,
then slowly STOP IT!!!

ok, i don't know knowt

as salaamu alaykum wa rahmatAllah,

Actually Mahmooda, it is considered impermissable by..well, everyone.  I have never read or heard of anyone saying otherwise.  The hadeeth is very clear.  And obviously, if it's something you are cursed for, wouldn't it impermissible for you?

I think we need to realize that there is wisdom in these prohibitions.  Nothing that is decreed for us is trivial or arbitrary.

The hadeeth also mentions women who make gaps between their front teeth, as this was considered an enhancement of beauty at the time of the Prophet [saw].  How come no one questions the prohibition of this act?  Is it because this part of the hadeeth makes more 'sense' to us or is easier for us to accept because it's not something done in our society?  Is it because it doesn't fit into what our society tells us a beautiful woman is?  And plucking eyebrows does?

Our opinions are subjective, limited to the scope of our individual life, while the ahadeeth are not.  Allah and His Rasul [saw] are the best to define beauty, we are not.  There comes a time when we have to put our opinions, our wants, second to what we know we have been commanded.

Mehak, girl, just leave your eyebrows alone.  Seriously.  I think you're more conscious of them than anyone else.  If you're uncomfortable with leaving them like that, you can dye the hair around the edges or something.. I don't know..

this makes me think of:
"when I look in the mirror the only one there is me / every freckle on my face is where it's supposed to be / and I know our Creator didn't make no mistakes on me..." :-)

wAllahu 'alam.

take care :)

its not haram, but u get cused if u do it!!![/quote]I'm assuming "cused" = "cursed."

I think this statement puts across a concept which is incorrect in Islam, wallahu a'lam.

When something is haraam, its gravity is *less* than something which is cursed by Allah (swt).  By curse, I mean the "la3nah" of Allah.  There are several acts about which Rasulullah (pbuh) has said specifically that the person who commits them is *cursed.*  One example is the selling of alcohol.  I have heard from some scholars that a person who engages in such an act constantly is not only a sinner, but that he is worse than that.  He is doomed, destroyed.  It's a graver act than something that is simply "haraam."

Having said that, I am not sure if the person who plucks the eyebrows is "cursed" or not.  I don't remember the hadith exactly.  But if he/she is cursed according to the hadith, then it is more serious than being haraam.  Although - granted - both are serious matters!

Wallahu a'lam.

Wassalaamu alaikum.

A.A.

I don't know if it's my place to speak here or not, but sisters do not be concious or afraid,

beauty is not always judged by those superficial things...

a muslimah who follows her deen and worships Allah Subhana but doesn't wear ny make-up or fashionable clothing is the most beautiful,

plus, it's not so bad, I find girl's worry more than people care to notice... A.A. abdullah,.
