Assalam'alaykum,

What's on my coffee table?  Oh... a lego block the kids forgot, a pen,
a grocery list, two dirty cups, about ten audio tapes, a plant, keys...

Bismillah and salam,
:)
I am not that voyeristic :)

I meant what are your coffe table reading material or however you say the coffee table magazines/books.

I was trying to search for alhuda magazine, but i guess it was stopped. But this is what I found dodgy:

"U.S. States > Maryland > College Park > Community > Religion and Spirituality > Judaism > Education > K-12

Dar-Us-Salaam & Al-Huda School - Jummah, Islamic elementary and high school." Judaism??? how do you go abuot getting yahoo to fix that?

Anyhow, What are your top ten islamic magazines to subscribe?

wa alaykum as salaam wa rahmatAllah,

Here is a thread on good Islamic books :)

I'd have to say that my favorite publication is Al-Talib, the Muslim newsmagazine of UCLA.  It is *consistently* excellent.  Every issue I've seen has been beautifully done, there's no fluff articles or random fatawa thrown in to take up space.  Each issue takes on a topic first with a killer cover page that attracts your attention, then well written well researched articles, deep poetry, advertising for the projects MSA-UCLA's involved in (like al Mursalah, the incarcerated Muslims correspondance project, the Umma free clinic) etc etc..  the whole thing is just pulled together really well, mashaAllah.  May Allah reward them for their efforts. :)

Bismillah and salam,

Jazakum Allahu khayran,

insha'Allah I will check it out. But you know what? i tried to write them for the murasala program and they never answered. I did three times, so it's not working i guess. But when I went to muslimsonline if you hit new services there are some address of inmates (mainly men) to write to and make dua for.

If anyone else likes a certain islamic publication/magazine please let me know. I would like to commit to something regularly in my household i would insha'Allah subscribe if i find the right one.

Assalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullah

Top 5 magazines (all I could think of at this moment...I've subscribed to these at 1 pt or another, so I know they're good, masha'Allah)

1) Al Jumu'ah - excellent family-type magazine, with fatawah, stories of the sahaabah, articles on daily issues, finances, etc.
2) Al Talib - def agree w/ se7en, there's something very high calliber abt this newsletter/magazine.  defin. worth it, wish they had more issues/yr
3) Islamic Horizons - anyone familiar with ISNA prob has a copy
4) Washington Report on Middle Wastern Affairs - ok ok, not a "muslim" magazine, but one of the best gosh darn socio-political magazines I've seen...I'm constantly promoting these guys, I should be getting paid!
5) Sisters! - Not sure if this publication still exists, but it was really good.

Yet others that are aight, I mean, you might like them:
1) Azizah magazine - women's journal type thing, only Islamic
2) The Mineret - published by the Islamic Center of S. Cali
3) The Message - publ by ICNA
