Where are all you guys from?

A.A. consider this thread a product extension of my previous ones on ages, so tell me, which cities do u guys live in? Again, it is so beautiful to see the board with ages of 13 to 25 to 50's... and it is ineteresting to see how muslims come from all walks of life and live all over. Masha'Allah. I'm having the side effects of work -> Busy...ness... My poor parents don't even get to see me much! I'm from Sunny island, Singapore... originally from Singapore, born and raised in Singapore, work in Singapore, live in Singapore ... yeah U get the pic. But my great grandparents well, a majority of them are from the exotic island of Java, my great great grandmother is from the Oriental China, and my great great grandfather is from err... the Land of the Windmills. :) And I have a weird mix of a Singaporean-Scouse accent that makes the Singaporeans laugh and the Brits go... "Did U say 'A' or 'E'?" when I try to spell my name to them *L* Take care! wallahua'lam :-)

Assalaamu alaikum, Well, umm.. my passport says I was born in Mianwali but my mother says I was born in Daudkhel. So I dunno ;) Don't ask me where these places are. If you are resourceful you may be able to find out, good luck searching... I was raised in Nigeria and now I live in the heart of USA - Ohio! Wasalaam.

I have been to hyderabad thrice with my friends and twice we planned to move ahead from Hyderabad and visit Nawabshah since its very famous for some particular fried fish, but unfortunately couldn't make it because our parents never allowed us. I have heard so much about it, that its so tasty that one keeps licking his fingers oince u eat it and can hardly stop eating. Its particularly called the "Meethay paani kee machlee" and famous for its taste. InshaAllah, I'll visit it someday. Its known to me because of its medical college also , the Nawabshah Medical college. Most of our Pakistan Air Force fighter planes flying over Karachi, take off and land from this particular Masroor base. I just managed to pass through these cities/towns (their railway stations) while I was heading for the Northern areas of Pakistan for tourism with my friends and we chose the best way of journeying i-e train. As far as I remember, I did get off the train on Mianwali station to buy some eatables and drinks. Br. Asim, u made me remember something, that wonderful trip to Naaraan, Kaaghaan, aah! the Switzerland of Pakistan, Alhamdulillah, what a beauty! Wassalam.

I was born and raised in the streets of Buffalo, NY! and was forced to move to DC when I was 13. I've been here since. Now, as much as I want to get away from the "Chocolate City", I only return to Buffalo on a "need-to-go-basis". (taheehee!) When I go, I spend most of my time in the masjid a couple of blocks from my grandmothers house because the ummah there is cool and also because there is NOTHING else to do there! [slm] The Prophet (pbuh) made the hijrah from Makkah to Madina along with Abu Bakr As-Siddiq in secret.  The Quraish were after his life, and this is why he took an unusual route to Madina from Makkah.  That is, instead of going north, he went south, then west, then north along the shore.  On his way, he found a well from which he wanted to drink some water.  However, there was a tribe inhabiting that area, and there was no way he could have gotten water without first introducing himself to the tribesmen.  So when he asked them for some water, they asked him semi-formally "where are you from?" If he would say "makkah" then his life would be in danger, because most of Arabia was aware that Quraish were after the Prophet (pbuh).  He could not lie either.  So he told them, "min al-maa'."  That is, "from water."  This is what the Qur'an tells us, that all forms of life were created from water.  The tribesmen thought there was a tribe called "al-maa'" so they gave him the water! Then before they could ask anything from Abu Bakr (radiAllahu anhu), he went ahead and said, "He's my guide [haadee], and I'm following his way [tareeqa]." So they gave them water and they moved on towards Madina :) Allahumma Salli alaa sayyidinaa Muhammad!   Wassalamu alaikum.
