I was wondering if anyone would like to share vegetarian recipes or something similiar. Actually where I live, there is no shop which sells zabeha and halal meat so I live on fish and veggies. I try to cook myself sometimes but mostly its veg soups, tuna sandwich or salsa and chips :). A couple of my friends got me recipes for vrg kababs and veg biryani. Any other ideas???and plz let them be easy ones !!:D

Bismillah and salam,

By the way you are allowed to eat the beef and the chicken if you say bismilah until you find out where you can get thabee7a. But I know what you mean, when we first came, our souls just rejected it.

Here is my EZZZ bake dish that turns everyone into artichoke heart lovers :)
material:
2 x 14 oz  of canned artichoke hearts pick the black can with the green picture of artichokes is yummy (you will drain it)
-condensed cream of mushroom soup (10oz)
-grate some cheddar cheese as you like it
-butter or margerine whatever you have kicking around. I use the butter.
- half a cup of dry bread crumbs. (don't go buying them! just get two slices of toast leave them out for awhile and as soon as it hardend abit stick it in the oven, then turn on the oven. This is because as the oven heats it dries the toast, as opposed to a preheated oven that will toast it right away)

OK insturcitons:
-make the soup with a bit less milk than what they ask for.

-put artichokes into 2L casserole dish(remember to drain them). Spoon soup over top. cover it with cheese.

melt the butter in small saucepan. stir in the bread crumbs. sprinkle over the cheese in the casserole.

bake uncovered in 350 oven for 20-30 minutes until hot basicaly

It is so easy and classy taste. People think it is a delicacy when they eat it hahaha.

Assalamu alaikum,
You could also try vegetarian stirfry.  I used to use a LOT of tofu when I was a student.  Just fry a bunch of cut up vegetables with tofu, and use garlic, ginger and soy sauce for seasoning.  If you have something like sesame oil it makes it taste really chinese.  Then you can have it with rice or noodles.   And if you make a lot you can freeze it for later.

Assalamu alaikum,
It actually took me a while to develop a taste for tofu.  It has absolutely no flavor!  The good thing about it is that you can marinate it and it'll take on the flavor of whatever you're cooking it with.  The other good thing is that you can do so much with it.  You can mash it up and mix in some taco mix or any other kind of spices and use it like ground meat.  That way you don't have to eat big chunks of it.  One time I even made fried tofu nuggets.  If you freeze it before using it it gets a firmer more rubbery texture and it feels a little more like meat, but you can't really fool yourself :)  So I'd say try it and see.

Assalamu alaikum
If you like the taste of indo-pak dishes, then there are a lot of things u can cook with veggies, but can u can get the ingredients esp. spices easily at ur place?
If u know how to make kababs, then u can try a modification using tuna that tastes great. Just sustitute canned, drained tuna meat instead of mince meat and the remaining procedure is the same.
I've seen Indians who dont eat meat especially like paneer (its a kind of cheese, don't know the exact name in english) either with. Also egg curry is delicious too.
Hmmmm, if u want more indian recipes, u can try www.sanjeevkapoor.com

Happy cooking!! :-)
