| Insight 2001- The learning and Recreation Club This summer camp was conducted by Indian Islamic Center, Abu Dhabi (UAE). This two-week educational camp is focused for the expatriate Indian students who are in UAE while on their vacation. As part of the recreational activities, a quiz competition was organized to cultivate the general knowledge of the young minds. The quiz master was Nisar Syed, well known media man and radio presenter. The students are divided into three teams: Tawba (meaning repentance), Taqwa (meaning piety) and Rahma (meaning Mercy). The questions were concerning both Indian and Arab issues including literature, names of heads of state, speech recognition from tape etc. However, the distance from one's own motherland contributed to the children's ignorance of Indian art related issues. Before the beginning of the competition, the young children got a chance to ask questions to the host. And thus, the children of 7-12 class literally 'interviewed' the mediaman. A first prize was also given tot he person who asked the best question. Apparently, the prize went for the one who asked as to why the radio station was accepting sponsorship from an airlines company that increases fares during the holiday seasons. The seniors' round was followed by small children. One question which brought replies from all participants was 'The first wife of Prophet who is considered a universal role model for women' - Khadija (ral).
