Young Guns
Cops: 10-, 13-Year-Old Girls Tried Bank Heist

http://www.abcnews.go.com/sections/us/DailyNews/young_robbers010722.html

July 23 — They're not your typical bank robbers.

Police in Baldwin, Pa., are looking into an attempted bank robbery — allegedly by two girls, ages 10 and 13, who wanted money for clothes.
‘Nothing Surprises You Anymore’

Baldwin Police Chief Chris Kelly told a local television newscast that the girls entered the bank Friday with towels on their heads and socks over their hands, and passed a note to the teller saying they had a gun and wanted $2,000.

"Nothing surprises you anymore," Kelly said. "But 10 and 13, with a plan like this, they don't realize the fear they put in people or the wheels that go into motion when things like this happen.

"That's the hardest part to believe is how thorough they thought this out," he added.

The young robbers told the bank teller they were being forced to rob the bank by a man with a gun in a car outside, Kelly told The Associated Press. But, he added, the girls later said they made the story up and attempted the robbery so they could get some money to go shopping.

"They planned it down to the description of the man, in case something happened in the bank," Kelly said. "They had two sets of clothing. They said they got some of their ideas from television."

The girls face charges of attempted robbery and conspiracy. They were being held in a juvenile detention center on Saturday.

‘Average Little Girls’

Brandon Townes knows the girls and was surprised by the news.

"They were nice," he said. "One little girl, she was sort of a tomboy, you would never think that she would do something like that."

Leslie Townes, Brandon's mother, agreed they are not bad kids.

"They're just like average little girls playing, like all the rest of the little girls," she said. "They're not real bad or nothing, not like that. Just playing like the rest of the kids."

slm,

wow that's pretty scary... these girls had no thoughts about the consequences...not to mention that they're probably also so deluded into thinking they need clothes and material possessions etc so badly they would even rob a bank at 12!??
