Unwed Muslimahs' Traveling Abroad

= As Salaamu Alaikum Sistas',

I realize that women we are not supposed to travel without a mahram.
Second to striving to please Allah(SWT) and adhere to the Sunnah, all
that I've ever wanted to do is travel and see the world. I realize that I
should wait until I'm married (insha'allah), but I want to travel now.
I'm already...20 something, and I feel that I'm running out of time. At
this rate, I'll probably get married and become pregnant never having
truly experienced another culture(s).

So, this is my question, does anyone know of any type of Islamic
organizations that help woman living abroad, as far as helping them find
places to live or just welcoming them to the community. Does such a place
even exist.

My destinations, as far as living for 6 months to a year or longer are
Morocco, Jordon...places where everything shuts down and people fall
into sujud (sajdah) when Al-Adhan is called.

Anyone have any answers or advice? Anyone? Anyone?

Sukran and Ma Salaam,
  ~Rabia!

wa alaykum as salaam wa rahmatAllah,

We actually discussed this issue here.

Actually most married peeps tell me to get any extensive traveling that I'd like to do (studying overseas, deen intensives programs, etc) done with *before* getting married, because it's crazy difficult to do afterwards.  But I also know a sister who put in her contract that her husband must give her permission to study overseas for like two years if there are no children in the picture. :)

I'm sorry, I don't know of any organizations like that.  One thing you might want to do though is look into specific programs, and then ask around about what other sisters are thinking of attending and hooking up that way..

I'm actually thinking about Syria meself so if you're interested email me inshaAllah :)

take care

wasalaamu alaykum.
