Regis here... well we made it to week #10... we laughed... we cried... we did a ton of web searches.. we tried to bribe regis (didn't work of course!)...and now we're finally at the end.... our tree is ready to bloom...

now who will be a mu'min??

well the answer to question #10 was the Ummahaat al-fadaa'il (The 4 Cardinal Virtues).  These virtues are:

               1. Shujaa3ah (courage) - Abu Bakr (ra)
               2. 3adl (justice) - Umar (ra)
               3. 3iffah (modesty) - Uthman (ra)
               4. Hikmah (wisdom) -Ali (ra)

The only one to answer this question right without any lifelines was Arsalan. (who i didn't know had the purification of the heart tape series that i took the question from !! :( )But AbdulBasir was able to pull through with a 50/50 home run. So we have two mu'mins.. err mu'mineen..............

so dilemma... can we have two million dollar mu'mins??? i don't think the madina has that much money (doesn't grow on the tree of hope!! :)........... so we'll have a tie breaker...........................a question you can't look up on the web or in books or in tapes!!!

here it is................................ the Mu'Min tie Breaker..............................and there are NO lifelines........... sorryyyyyy AT&T Madina is out of service.........

to all the winning mu'mineen (soon to be mu'min!)

to the 2nd place winners (Asim & ABC)  and to the runners up (Arshad & Br Khalid) -- should anything happen to the mu'mins during their mu'min reign.....................j/k :)

and

to all the contestants of Who Wants to be a Mu'min!!! May Allah always guide you to seek knowledge even to China (.org) and to strive together as one race towards all that is good........................................

Assalaamu alaikum,

Can I participate? Although I have no idea I can at least give it a try.

Ameen to the duas. My sincere thanks to Jannah, jazakAllahu khayran. This was really beneficial and I learned a lot. Maybe next time, inshallah, I could do better ;)

Wasalaam.

This was a schocker, I thought Asim would pull through.  He should have used his lifelines.

Congratulations to Asim and Abdul Basir.

Next time we should play the weakest link, and each week someone gets voted off. hehehhehe. ;)

Another question? No way, I am not down with this.

Section 2 of the rules of WWTBAM clearly state, and I humbly quote:

The first person to get 10 points WINS the status of Madina Mu'min (or some suitable prize from Jannah)!!

There are no provisions in the rules about going past ten points. Two people arrived at 10 points, and therefore should both get what was promised to them by the aforementioned rule. Simply because the above rule does not state in the plural in regards to the criteria for winning the status of Madina Mu'min does not warrant exclusion of either. Therefore, I am making another legal appeal. :)

More importantly, I believe Br. Arsalan would agree with me in that neither of us seeks the money of the Madina or even a certain title. What we do seek is the pleasure of Allah and what could be more pleasing to Allah than two Mu'mins rather than just one? Indeed, what is a better manifestation of the ikhwan and its virtues than two who share with the other something which others with less desire to please Allah would normally hoard all for themselves?

I congratulate all the contestants in WWTBAM for making it a very pleasant and educational experience. And I congratulate Br. Arsalan for his victory. If there can only be one Mu'min, then by Allah it should be him and I would gladly give up any right of mine to facilitate that. If there can be two, then alhamdulillah, it would be an honor to share it with a fellow brother for the sake of Allah SWT. If there could be more, subhanallah, for every participant in this friendly game is deserving of it and may Allah SWT allow us to attain the real title of Mu'mineen on the Day of Judgement.

I have to say the whole thing has been really good fun and beneficial to boot.

Anyone else suffering from withdrawal symptoms? ;-)

We need to think of something else to replace it for the Summer ;-)

I think we've found our own Anne Robinson ;)

As for suggestions on a new game, how about we finally do something in teams? Something along the lines of 4 teams of 4, or more if there is enough interest.

Yep, and I can just imagine the "Anne Robinson" type comments she will be saying during the game.

"Whose cows are not all in the barn?"
"Someone's suffering from mad cow disease"
"You are the weakest link .... salaam"

How about we do it alphabetically, put all the A's on one team. ;) hehehehhe

I second the idea. To make it interesting though team members should be chosen in a random manner which would ensure a fair distribution of talent :) Insha'Allah this will foster cooperation between fellow muslims.

So that would mean Barr, Bhaloo and Br Khalid right? ;)

How about we appoint a few team captains and then allocate members to teams thereafter?

We could have a Team Weakest Link where a whole team gets eliminated and not just one person. Easier to deal with the humiliation of going out when you can share it amongst friends ;)

Who dropped out? The game is over, it stops at 10! :)

Besides, Arsalan was the only one to get to ten without a lifeline, so he is the real victor in my mind.

And isn't the Weakest Link a little nasty for the Madina? Voting people off? Not exactly consistent with the Preamble of the Madina Constitution is it? :)

yeah, I agree with Br. AbdulBasir... the whole weakest link idea...

maybe it should run on an objective basis like fair competiton (like # of points per person on a team)

rather than on a subjective basis. just an idea, because the main objective of competition is to bring out the best in all of us, no matter who wins or loses, and to bring ourselves forward in Islam.

I think it should be all about Abu Khalid.

Who can guess most closely who, where, what, he is....

He can than verify it!

This whole thing was a lot of fun Jannah.  Jazak Allahu khairan.

I'm with Abdul Basir on the tiebreaker idea.  No more questions.  The competition ends at Q10 :)

That does NOT, of course, mean that we are incapable of answering your tiebreaker!  It just means we refuse to do so because it was not part of the game plan :)

And if there must be only one winner, I would differ with Abdul Basir.  If i made the competition, I would have included this in the rules, that in case of a tie, the person who has used the fewest amount of lifelines wins.  That would be Abdul Basir, because he only used two lifeline throughout the whole competition.  I used all three.

I'm up for another competition, whether it be Weakest Link or whatever.  I'm sure you guys can come up with something neat and beneficial insha Allah.  Let's get a little more participation from the people this time though (coughXse7enXcough) ... maybe the "teams" idea is good.

Wassalamu alaikum.

Yeah... team games! so... if some of us have to leave the country *ahem*... we won't be left at acquiring 6 points only! *ahem*

If I was a cynic the words "grapes" and "sour" would spring to mind ;-)

The Weakest Link idea would work I think if we had say 6 teams of 4 to begin with and each week one got eliminated until the two finalists remained.

Then the teams (and the individuals) could go head to head with each other to find out who is the strongest link ;-)

Br Arsalan and I have agreed on the Prize for the contest...

We have decided to let Regis decide what our prize should be.

Ok Regis?
