[slm] Does anyone know of a hadith that talks about the virtue of hosting your brother or sister in your house? Or something about helping a brother in need (also related to the subject)? JazakumAllahu Khair. [slm] |

wa alaykum as salaam wa rahmatAllah, [*] Khalid ibn Amr relates that he heard the Messenger of Allah, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: He who believes in Allah and the Last Day should honor his guest as he deserves. He was asked: ‘And what does he deserve, O Messenger of Allah?’ and he answered: ‘A day and a night of what he deserves, and hospitality for three days. More than this is charity.’ (Bukhari, Muslim). [*] Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "Anyone who believes in Allah and the Last Day should not harm his neighbor, and anyone who believes in Allah and the Last Day should entertain his guest generously, and anyone who believes in Allah and the Last Day should say what is good or keep silent. assalamualaikum wr wb The Prophet Muhammad (may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) used to honor everyone who came to visit him. Sometimes he would even take the cloak on his shoulders off and spread it out for his guest to sit on. He would take the cushion he was leaning on and offer it to his guest prefering their comfort to his own. If they refused, he would continue to insist until they accepted. [i cant remember the ref for the hadeeth! ??? ] |
