Non-muslims visiting a mosque

One of my friends has to do a project for a class of hers and it involves a visit to the mosque, so she is planning on coming w/ me to jummah inshallah next week. Since she is not a muslim, what advice should i give her on what to wear?  I was going to suggest something long sleeved and a skirt. Should i ask her to wear a hijab too? or is that not necessary?  If anyone has any advice regarding mosque etiquette for non-muslims, i'd appreciate it! Thanks :)

A.A.

I definately think that it would be, from a brother's point of view, important to cover-up out of respect...

I know some brothers would be very disconcerted when they enter a kasjid to concentrate on Allah Subhana, and a girl without cover walks by them... naturally a man will look to see who it is, and why risk the chances of Shaitan entering the masjid? Not all brothers are strong enough to resist that "second glance".

plus, women and men are representatives of Islam inside and outside the masjid... to compromise our Law would be to compromise our faith, right?

I think the girl should dresss modestly (maybe a baggy sweatshirt?) and a long skirt (sorry I am not up with women's fashion lol!).maybe it would be a good experience for the new-comer as to how muslimah's live and how justly they are treated... try to encourage the feeling that chances are not any one brother will be drooling over her or looking her up, but treating her like a person (and still not like another brother). asalaamu alaikum. abdullah,.

Definitely, get her to wear a hijab when she visits the mosque.

Thanks for the replies-it made me remember this one time I went to a mosque in Washington DC and there was a sign saying that non-muslims had to cover up and they had scarves and things that the ladies could borrow and use.
