| As Salaamu Alaikum, Wa Rahmatullah, Wa Barakatuh! Hello everyone, I am Amina. I've visited this board many times in the past but just recently decided to become a citizen. I am 20 something and I live in Wash., DC. I've have practiced Al-Islam for almost 5 years now, next Tuesday (8/7) will be my anniversary insha'allah. I was first introduced to "Islam" when I was 14 years old by a guy from NYC. Actually, he was into the 5% Nation, but after reading a lot of their literature, I felt that they were practicing something deviant and I wanted to find the truth. Under all of their propaganda I could see traces of it; that is what lead me to Al-Islam alhumdullilah. So even though I've been kinda' studying since then, I didn't actually embrace Islam until a few years ago. I am currently working in downtown DC for a NPO as an administrative assitant. It's fine for now, but I'm ready to move on. So many people are trying to push me to return to college, but I only want study the din. I am looking into different Islamic Institutes, and if Allah(SWT) wills it I will be able to attend one of them. I guess that's enough for now. | Salaam and Shukran to all of you! Se7en, I understand that you may have a hectic schedule; I'm a patient sista'... As for the 5%ers, well, it's been a long time since I've studied any of their "teachings" so I've forgotten a bit. One thing that I can't forget is that they believe (astaghfiru'allah) that they are gods. Have you ever heard one man walk up to another and say, "Peace god"? Supposedly, A.L.L.A.H. is an acronym: Arm, leg, leg, arm, head = man, thusfore man = God. And since before there was light there was only darkness (blackness) it is thought that the Black male is God; but only the 5% of North American Blacks who have "The Knowledge". The rest of us, especially us Orthodox, Sunni, whatever Muslims are stupid because we instead of seeing Allah in ourselves submit to some made up being that we can't even see. That's their opinion. Anything that you can't touch or feel isn't real. Oh yeah, I'm sure you heard that all people are devils. (???) It goes on and on. It's scary really. I actually got into an argument a couple of years ago with the man who introduced it to me. He wanted me to justify Al-Islam to him. I didn't feel that I had to but I tried my best anyway. In my opinion, Islam is the truth, the truth stands alone. It doesn't need me to speak for it or defend it. There is nothing in this world that makes more sense than the din! Oh! According to the literature that I read, this whole thing started with a man named Clarence 13X. Apparently while he was in prison his wife joined the Nation of Islam. The NOI's rules were too strict and just not agreeable to him, so he started a whole new "way of life". ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Allah's(SWT) Messenger(SAWS) said, "What happened to the children of Israel will surely happen to my nation, step by step. So much so that if there are those who openly have sex with their mothers, among them there will be among my nation those who do that. Surely the Israelites splintered into 72 sects and my nation will splinter 73 sects, all of which will be in the fire except one". When the Sahaaba asked, "Which sect is it, O Messenger of Allah?" | [slm] Welcome to the board and I hope that Allah enables you to expand your knowledge by learning about Islam-and what better than to go overseas and learn from knowledgable people :) Inshallah I would love to be able to do that one day. If you do get to go, please tell us all about it, I'm sure a lot of people would be interested to know too! Alhamdulilah that you've found the religion of Truth :) It is always so beautiful and heart warming to hear of people that discover Islam. Any idea?[/quote] As Salaamu Alaikum, From what I've read and have been told, it's because they claim to be among the "5%" of enlightened Black males in North America. I still see some of the people that I knew then and it's sad because I just couldn't understand how grow men and women could be sucked into something like that; at least for so long, when I saw the insanity of it just weeks after being exposed to it. These people are in their late 20's are 30's now. I've come to learn that Allah(SWT) guides some Al-Islam but not all of us. I'm just grateful alhumdulillah that I've guided to it. MaSalaam! |
