I think it's a good move for Hakeem.  His role in Houston was becoming very limited anyway.  He has family in Toronto, and the East is much better for his style of play.  Plus, he'll only have deal with Shaq twice :)

I do wish he had gone to Indiana rather than Toronto, but that deal didn't materialize.

I hope he can stay healthy ... if he can, Philadelphia is in big trouble.

Wassalamu alaikum.

I think it would be good for him.  He wasn't doing anything in Houston, like Arsalan mentioned.  Maybe the Raptors can do something now? ???

I really like Orlando's chances though in the east.  They have Ewing, Grant, Mc Grady, and Grant Hill.  What a team!!!

Assalaamu alaikum,

I think Hakeem has made the right decision by signing with the Raptors.  If the Rockets really wanted him, they would have held on to him.  VC and the Dream will make an interesting combination as their personalities seem to differ greatly.  If Dream can contribute, the future for the Raptors is bright.  Just wished they would have held on the the Oak, he was and still is good.  He deserves better than the Bulls.

Arshad, Ewing is old and does not have ANY game left.  He used to be good, not great, but now he can't contribute to a team either.  His deal reminds me of Phil Jackson acquiring John Salley for the Lakers, getting an old guy who still knows some stuff.  That's all.

Who did the Rockets get in return?

Hakeem did not get traded.  He went to Toronto as a free agent.  Therefore, the Rockets don't get anything in return, except room in their salary cap, because they don't have to pay the money to Olajuwon.

It'd be interesting to see what move the Rockets make to utilize that salary room and to fill the shoes of Olajuwon.

actually now that i think about it... it is a good deal for toronto and hakeem... i mean he wont be like he was in his prime years... but the east lacks a good center (i mean theres zo, ewing, and mutombo but thats about it!) but i would love to see the raptors play next year... esp if jordan comes back (espn the mag. has an excellent article about jordan) that'll be awesome... :) inshaAllah im awaiting... still hornet pride baby :)

The Rockets completed a sign-and-trade agreement Thursday, sending
Olajuwon to the Raptors for first- and second-round draft choices.
