| [slm] Well it's been a year since we first built the foundation stones of the Madina. And what a year... ..we've expanded so many buildings and infrastructure. We added a library, a newspaper, a British market, a Ramadan courtyard, a road for Hajj and we even planted a tree for hope. ..we welcomed so many new citizens who moved in during the year, from a handful to over 300 today. Some moved out, some were banished, some we still wish we could kick out ;) ..over 25 thousand posts later we've discussed everything from henna to chocolate baklava, from mahr to marriage advice, from personal problems to the problems of our ummah at large. ..we laughed over our silly hijab stories, our embarrassing moments and our corny jokes. We cried over the mistakes we made, the ppl we offended and the ppl who had to leave us and make their way to another destination. ..but we survived it all. and the madina stands proud a small city, an oasis in a virtual void, a reminder of a once forgotten community by the same name. May Allah grant guidance and khair to all of it's citizens. Ameen |

| slm Wow, its been a year huh? Maybe we should have a contest. Get people to write a short esay about the Jannah.org message board and the people within it, what they have learned, what the board means to them, why do they visit, how the board has evolved over the year, why they like the board. Then maybe we can vote on which entries are the best? ??? And host all of them up on the website? |

Assalaamu alaikum, I remember when I first discovered Madina a day or two before it was officially opened to public. All of us were excited, just like a child in a science musenum who runs around testing this and testing that. That excitement was well founded as Madina grew into an archive of sorts - an oasis, a well, a fountain - where we learned about Islam, about the world around us, about people and their views and perspectives. And through all this we learned more about ourselves, discovering our strengths and weaknesses, and tried to improve ourselves from the generous sprinkling of virtue that was Madina. In Madina we did shed tears many times. We cried when we learned about our deficiencies; we cried when we realized that we have a long way to go; we cried when we saw the hardships others have to go through; we cried at our helplessness; we cried at our mistakes. We also cried with joy at the blessings of Allah swt, at the shahadah of brand new Muslims, at the happiness of our brothers and sisters. We even cried with frustration at not being able to solve Abu Khaled's riddles ;) But through the tears we smiled a lot :) :) We helped each other out, we gave the best advice with sincerity and compassion, we encouraged each other to good, we supported each other through thick and thin. We smiled at the jokes, at the sillyness of our brothers and sisters, at the lightheartedness at times of disagreements, at the mistakes of others. We truly appreciated all the 'characters' on Madina, and we marvelled at the Magnificence of Allah Who created them. We also made duas for each other (and will continue to do so, inshallah). We prayed that Allah have mercy on us, forgive us, and shower us with blessings. We prayed that He lessens our hardships, cures our illnesses, removes our anxieties, and strengthens us with eemaan. We prayed that He always guides us, protects us, and helps us on this journey of life. We prayed that He grants us all a space in Jannah. Thank you Madina for enriching our lives (and making us addicts!). Jazaakumullahu khayran :) Wasalaam. PS: who is next? |

This site is a bundle of knowledge and eye-opening with discussions that are thought provoking making us take a closer look at ourselves to become better muslims. | Salam, Man, I hate being a newbie..:b..But anyway.. congrats! I was at a msg board that started out all nice but collapsed within 6 months because the rules were becoming lax. Ppl were getting offended and the moderators were just plain stressed. They tried to start all over again but then the atmosphere wasn't the same. It's still alive but the spirit is just lacking. So to maintian the same spirit and goals of this baords for one year is really a big accomplishment. Masha-Allah to all of you who have made this place what it is. salam, meri |

| slm, WHOO HOO!!! ;-D ;-D ;-D les give it up for da MADINAH! takbeer! ;-D wow mashallah... one year.. seems like so much longer.. as if this place has always been here :)i havent been a member since the beginning but ive been here for several months and i can defenitely say that the madinah community is truly special and unique.. i dont know of any place like it on the web. mad props to the jannah/albaniya crew, and most of all, Alhamdulillah :) inshallah, may the Madinah community live on :) |

| Asalaamu Alaikukum ;-) I think we all have a Madina story in us ;-) But like Br meraj says, the board has a very special atmosphere and long may that continue. And as I said in my introduction when I first joined here, this place is a Breath of Fresh Air ;-) Mad props to all the citizens out there!!! ;-) PS The board has a funny habit of changing your standard vernacular too!!! |
