My salute to you, Ummu Urwah

Assalamu'alaikum :-)

Here is a poem that was written by a Malaysian brother, a Muslim activist. He was arrested several times by the government, and lately, his wife, Ummu Urwah was detained by the ISA (Internal Security Act). In this act, the government has the "right" to arrest and prison anyone without a trial. Some of you might be familiar with the going-ons in Malaysia with the Anwar Ibrahim saga.

This is just some of the struggles that our Malaysian brothers/ sisters are going through.

Abu and Ummu Urwah are parents of 6 or 7 children (I'm not sure) and both of them are very active doing da'wah and striving for the cause.

This is a poem that he wrote for her. I apologise for the bad translation. It took me several days, my Malay's a bit rusty. Afwan.

SALUTE BUATMU, UMMU 'URWAH

Your lofty aspirations, I honor
Your courage I see, is a gift from Allah
You stand firm on your rights

You believe deeply of the truth and justice
You believe deeply His promises
You surrender my children to Him

Vanished – the tremble in your heart
Your struggle solidly fixed, persevering.

How pure your love is to me, to the children of ours, to the children of the nation
You have left behind the steps of struggle for the warriors (to tread)

In the pure silence of my sujud (sajdah), lies my du’a for you
This is the answer

I give you my salute for you, Ummu Urwah

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ketinggian azammu kusanjungi
Keberanianmu kulihat anugerah dari Allah
Kau tetap teguh di atas hakmu
Kau yakin kepada kebenaran dan keadilan
Kau yakin pada janji-Nya
Kau serah anak-anaku kepada-Nya
Hilang gentar hatimu
Makin teguh tekad perjuanganmu
Tulusnya cintamu padaku, pada anak-anak kita, pada anak-anak nusa
Kau telah tinggalkan jejak-jejak juang, buat bekalan srikandi
Dalam hening-hening sujudku munajat buatmu
Inilah hasilnya
Aku salute buatmu, Ummu 'Urwah [/color]
