wa alaikum us-salaam

The conference was a success by the Grace of Allah. It was attended by close to 3000 brothers and sisters and for 3 days we were amost totally removed from the western lifestyle.

The conference is held in the University of Leicester Halls of Residence area and visitors stayed in the student dorms. We used to pray Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib & Isha out on the grass in the warm summer sunshine. The feeling of warmth in your heart when you see over 2000 muslims dressed as Muslims, walking from lecture to prayer to lunch is something you can only feel when you experience seeing it with your own eyes.

The conference talks themselves were packed all the time. The content varied from discussion of traditional topics like Tawheed & Iman & the eminence of the Sahabah, to current issues such as Palestine and lectures on comparative religion.

One of the best things about this conference is how the speakers are so happy to roam about the conference grounds. Most of them will in between lectures visit the market area and you can greet them, speak to them, sit down and have lunch with them, etc.

The one sad thing is that the organiser, brother Abu Muntasir, didn't feel too well during the event. He spent alot of the time resting and i pray that Allah givs him a speedy recovery.

as salaamu alaykum wa rahmatAllah,

Kashif I actually heard about this conference from one of the brothers at the Dar Al-Arqam booth at ISNA!

Me:  <after he mentioned it> Hey! I know one of the organizers, his name is brother Kashif.  Do you know him?

the dude:  Brother Kashif?  Hmm.  What's his last name?

Me:  <I totally blanked on your last name> Uhh.. I don't know? <and of course I remembered it two minutes after the conversation was over!>

the dude:  okaaay.. sure.  I might know him.

Hehe.. it was really funny at the time :)

Alhamdulillah I'm glad that it went so well, may Allah reward you all for your efforts :)  And may Allah grant shifa to brother Abu Muntasir.

take care :)

wasalaamu alaykum.

Masha'llah. Yes, three brothers from the class at Dar al-Arqam came over with Sh. Ja'far Idris & Imam Anwar Awlaqi. They were really, nice-mannered, friendly brothers and i got the chance to talk to them quite alot during the conference.

Anyhow, i don't know why he asked for my second name because i didn't tell him! hehe

PS I was more of a helper than an organiser
