alsalamu alaykum wa rhmat Allah wa barakatuhu

i hope insha'Allah ta'ala ur all doing well, in a rising state of iman and full of ideas:-)

what do u all think of having a button (the type u pin on) with some type of da'wa message or website written on it? MSA'ers or any muslim could sport it on their bags or clothing or wherever suitable.

this idea has materialised after hearing about an MSA somewhere on the continent (i don remember exactly where) doing something similar

its something ALL the MSA's could do...what do u peeps think??...is it a good idea? MSA'ers on the board, this q is for u

what do u think would be good to have on the button??

jazakum Allahu khayran for ur time and thoughts:-) its much appreciated;)

walsalamu alaykum wa rhmat Allah wa barakatuhu

wa alaykum as salaam wa rahmatAllah,

Check out this page from the MSA @ the University of Iowa.  If you scroll down you can see the stickers they wore during Ramadhan.  Pretty cool :)

I think it's an awesome idea sis.. :)

How about, "don't worry, I speak english" :P

"Have you faced Makkah today?" (that's from an old school muslim shirt)

or

"Have you hugged a Muslim today?"

just kidding on that last one :)

I'll try to think of some good ones..

take care

wasalaamu alaykum.

Frankly speaking, I wouldn't wear a button unless I was standing at a da'wah table, or it was a special day/week (like IAW).  But putting it on my bag ... hmm.  Maybe.

I don't know.  Sounds like a good idea.  What to put on it?  Anything that a bumper sticker would have.  Along with the web site address of the local MSA chapter and/or their email address, perhaps?

Wassalamu alaikum.

wlm,

buttons are an excellent idea.. soemtimes they are conversation starters and people will ask you something about it or comment on it..an excellent opportunity for dawah.. as for brothers looking at sisters or vice versa that all goes within the bounds of islam so i don't think there would be any problem.. sisters could put it on their backpack if they are worried ppl are going to stare at them in a lewd manner because of a pin.

ok now since u think its a good idea...what would be good to put on the button??........we're kinda clueless...but of course still thinking......someone brought up that the the website of the local MSA be put on it..But if its an international thing,  maybe a catchy phrase would be good.....

se7en:-) ....ur comments really made me laugh:D..but whoever wants to wear the button, its up to them:-)

assalaamu alaikum wrt wbt,

hey sis... i like this very cool idea.  must be an Ottawa MSA idea ;)

how about "Islam: For All of Humanity" or "Islam: Mercy to Humanity" since your thinking an international theme.

sisters shouldn't wear colors or patterns

Actually I have had people say that to me. That one shouldn't wear bright colors and *too* pretty patterns. Who's to decide what's a *too* pretty pattern? So one day this sister suggested colors like grey, black, forest green, etc. Imagine a world where men wore only white and the women black and grey and dark forest green. What a dreary world that would be...

Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi ta3ala wabarakatuh.

I actually attend the same University as Sis...and yes, it's the University of
Ottawa:) (sorry, we're kinda proud UofO's)

Se7en, mashaa'Allah, I really like you're quote:) “don’t worry, I speak English”
;)
And that’s actually the type of thing we were looking for.  Something catchy and
not obviously related to Islam, so that people will actually come up and ask
questions since once again the whole point of this is dawa.  We figure if different
MSA's actually go along with it and so many of us have it on (ourselves or our
bags), it might actually be a successful dawa tool.
In terms of the website...I think it's important to have a URL on it, and once we
all (or some) agree to go ahead with it, we'll have to decide on a website.  A
website that people can remember easily and can get quick information regarding
Islam.  Maybe even the jannah.org website:)
Waiting to hear your feedback on the whole idea, which Universities are
interested and more quotes..blease:)

P.S: As you guys can see, I'm only a guest on this message board and I've been
visiting every now and then to read the reflections that have been posted after the
retreat which has walhamdulillah effected many of us.  I have the tapes of the
last session and as a treat I think I'll send you some of the beautiful reflections
that were shared by beautiful people on the last day of the retreat...in
shaa'Allah:)

hafethakumu'Allah (May Allah protect you),

Assalamu'alaikum,

There are some buttons like those abovementioned that's sold here. I can't really remember many of the phrases... but here's some of them.

1) I love Islam
2) There is no God but Allah.
3) A Smile is charity
4) Peace be upon you
5) In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most merciful

What this company did is that they take short phrases from the hadiths, and put it on the buttons, and in small prints, (Words of the Prophet Muhammad). I'll try and find out some more, inshaAllah.

Plus, car signs.. you know.. the diamond shaped "Baby on Board" ones.
Well, here's some examples...

"Muslim Baby on Board, on his/her way to Jannah"
"Lost? Follow the Qur'an and Sunnah"
"There is no god but but God, and Muhammad is His messenger"

Hmm.. I hope I'm not doing anything illegal here... but, you can pick up from these ideas, though. This company, deals with these kinds of paraphernalia, and they sell posters, and badges, magnets.. cool stuff.

I'll see if they have a website, inshaAllah.

I also have this T-shirt with the words printed on the chest...

"Heroes of All Times"

Adam, Idris, Nuh, Hud, Salih, Ibrahim, Lut, Ismail, Ishak, Yaacub, Yusuf, Ayub, Shu'aib, Musa, Harun, Zulkifli, Daud Sulaiman, Ilyas, Ilyasa, Yunus, Zakaria, Yahya, Isa, Muhammad
(But the names are printed in their Biblical version, though like Ezekial, Enoch, Jesus etc)

The Messenger believes in what has been sent fdown to him from his Lord and (so do) the believers) Each one believes in Allah, His Angels, His Books and His Messengers. They say "We make no distinction between one another of His Messengers"
Al Quran:285

One of my favourite T-shirts. Good for da'wah, me think.

Oh yes! We have a Respect Ramadhan campaign annually, nation wide and buttons are given out, which was worn throughout the month. Last year, the theme was "Compassion"..., so, inshaAllah, another da'wah tool to help explain Ramadhan and enliven it for both Muslims and non-Muslims.

Try and do something universal, that the rest of the society can appreciate too, inshaAllah.... just a suggestion :-)

Take care
wassalam :-)

They had these buttons at ISNA that read: "Blessed to be MUSLIM"
I got one from this one booth.  I saw a lot of people wearing them at the convention too.  I was looking for other ones with diff phrases but didn't find any.

so good to hear you peops come up with these ideas....down here in New Zealand these kinda things are unheard of! :)

ok so heres my two cents worth: Salaam means Peace and Peace is Islam ...one of my bros had that on his t-shirt.

oh hey and another idea: Yeah I'm a believer! along the lines of the beetles song.
