[slm] Following is a very enlightened information and knowledge, which hitherto I was unaware of and which I am mentioning below. Perhaps some of the brothers and sisters on the board might have already been aware of it. Sometime back I heard an audiocassette of a lecture by a scholar in which the learned scholar mentioned that nowhere in Quran the holy Prophet Rasulullah Sallal-lahu-Alia-hai Wasallam was called by his NAME when addressed in first person as had been the case with all other Prophets (ASW), who are mentioned otherwise by their name. All these Prophets whenever and wherever they are mentioned in Quran are addressed by their name, i.e., Ya Ibrahim Ya Moosa Ya Nooh Etc. But Rasoolullah SAW was not once addressed by his name in the Quran. He is addressed like for example; Ya Ayyuhan Nabi Ya Ayyuhal Muthathir Ya Ayyuhal Muz-Zammil Etc. Even when Ummahatul Mumineen (Mothers of Muslims) are addressed they are addressed as: Ya Nisa Aln Nabi Not once was the holy Prophet (SAW) addressed as Ya Mohammed. Wherever the word Mohammed was mentioned in Quran it was in conjunction with Risalat, e.g., Mohammed (SAW) is no more than a Messenger. (Sura Al Imran – verse 144) Mohammed (SAW) is not the father of any of your men, but he is the Messenger of Allah. (Surah 33 – Verse 40) Mohammed (SAW) is the Messenger of Allah. And those who are with him are severe against disbelievers. (Surah 48 – Verse 29) Why is it so? To call someone by his Title/Appellation (Laqab/Kuniya) in Arabic (even in Urdu as well)instead of by name denotes forcefully the Respect bestowed, e.g., Ya Haji Ya Ustad Thus Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala always mentioned in Quran Rasool-Allah (SAW) by his title to emphasize HIS respect bestowed on him instead of calling him by name, as had been the case with all other Prophets. That I heard some years ago in audiocassette. Recently at a Friday Sermon by a different scholar I heard him mentioning the same as above with slight variation. In addition the scholar mentioned that on another occasion, which is to come, the situation would be altogether different. On the Day of Resurrection the holy Prophet would intercede on behalf of humanity with Allah Permission and he would be in prostration as long as Allah wish. Then Allah will address the holy Prophet (SAW) as: “O Muhammad, raise your head, say and you would be heard; ask and it would be granted; intercede and intercession would be accepted”. (Kitab Al Iman-Muslim Book 001- Number 373) Why on the Day of Resurrection, the holy Prophet (SAW) will be addressed by his name whereas he was never called by his name on the earth? First, the Day of Resurrection will be in a State of Jalaal (Maqaam-e-Jalaal) Secondly, the holy Prophet will be called by his name so as to remove any doubt and ambiguities since all other Prophets and as well the whole human race will be there. The emphasis of name means the addressed is to none other than the holy Prophet himself. It is to highlight the fact the highest state and honor ALLAH will bestow on the holy Prophet (SAW) on that day , a state called SHIFA'ATUL-KUBRA which no one shall attain except the holy Prophet (SAW). It is indeed a Great Respect and Privilege even though he will be called by his name. Walla-Ho-Aalam Bil Sawab |
