Assalamu'alaikum...

Just spreading the word around...

[To moderators: I'm not sure whether this is the right place to put this. I can't find the thread: who's going to ISNA?]

I would love to go to ISNA, you guys are sooo lucky, mashaAllah... hmm.. maybe 2003 and if I can coerce my brother to come along as well :)

take care :-)

========================================================
With the upcoming ISNA convention, it would be nice for those of us who attend to meet with other muslims interested in mental health and issues of psychology.

there may be an opportunity to do so this coming weekend... Tariq Ramadan has personally communicated to me his desire to meet with and talk to muslims in the west who are in the field of Psychology and any related disciplines.

Dr. Tariq Ramadan is the grandson of Imam Hasan al-Banna who currently
resides in Switzerland. He is a professor of philosophy and Islamic
Sciences. His writings and lectures focus on, among other things, how
Muslims who desire to maintain their Islamic values can pursue modern
intellectual interests and make a contribution to western society. He and his colleagues have worked on understanding the Islamic perspective on economics, politics/law, cultural and social organization... and now they are beginning to examine Psychology. A discussion with brother Tariq may prove to be very useful to muslims who wish to develop an understanding of what "Islamic Psychology" is.

If we can get a small group together of interested individuals, we can set up a time and place, probably around saturday morning (9/1) at ISNA, for us all to meet with brother Tariq. If you are interested, please email me or call me as soon as possible so that i can get an idea of the number of people who wish to meet. I will then make arrangements to get a room to meet in... if you have any suggestions of a meeting place, please let me know.

please forward this message to anyone who may be interested.

Jazakum Allahu khayran

wassalaam
