--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have been asked to say why I became Muslim.
As a child my Mum told me to seek the truth and to make up my own mind about religion.  I was at the time going through the first confession and confirmation as a catholic and had been kicked out of sunday school for asking to many questions and making the other children think about their religion.
I never liked praying to the statues and started looking at other christian religions, then buddism and hinduism could not find what seemed to be the truth - too many gods/idols or the concept of we are god as in new age.  I couldn't agree with any of these concepts.
For a while I gave up and sort of made up my own set of beliefs with Great spirit at the top.  Then I stared working in a Muslim area and found books to read on Islam wow this was what I had been looking for the truth at last and so I kept reading until I felt the confiedence and need to go to the Mosque and I believe it is the best thing I ever did in my life.  I live in Australia.

asalaamu alaikum,

MashaAllah!  is this your own story sister?  if so I guess we are cousins in nationality with me being from over the ditch in NZ :)

Alhamdulillah! it makes me happy to hear that you found the resources that helped you to learn about Islam...so many kiwis and aussies just don't have a clue.

How active is the Muslim community where you are at?

wasalaam,
Ahmed

Where I am living is an area populated by Muslims so we have our Mosques, Halal shops and muslim clothing stores alhumdulillah I am very fortunate to be living in this area.
