| salam Alaikum Just a while ago, a weired thought flashed my mind. So I thought of posting it to see what others think about it. This is about two mundane things which we all do (and as such there is nothing philosophical aboout it). Some of the results on comparision were funny and some strange. * On sneezing, a believer says 'Al Hamdu Lillah' while on yawning the believer seeks refuge with Almighty from the Accursed Devil. * Sneezing is when the body wants to force out a 'particle'; yawning is a stmulation for the 'easy entry of the Devil' (perhaps the reason why we are commanded to cover our mouth with a hand) * Sneezing is aroused when we look at a strong source of light (Sun for eg: ) while yawning is when we are relaxing in a dim-lit room. * In most cases, seeing another person yawning makes us yawn too. In the case of sneezing it is not so * Yawning is a great non-verbal tool (especially in a classroom for the teacher to understand the interest level of students ;) . I don't know of such meaning for sneezing. / Finally, I had to yawn many times while typing this but never sneezed. What about you? yaaaaaaaawwwwwwn! ;) |

| Bismillah and salam, I believe we also say al7emdulilah after we sneeze because it is the closest thing our bodies come to death. the heart and all the organs stop functioning totally for a fraction of a second. |

| wow i didnt know ur organs and stuff stop when u snezze thats kinda scary !! what causes yawning? lol all this talk tof it makes me yawn a lot too ... weird .. or maybe i just em ;) lol ws |

Her daughter hesitated and asked- "How does he get out?" Anyone know? |

| slm you made me crack up jaihoon Narrated Abu Huraira the prophet pbuh said 'If anyone of you sneezes,he should say 'Al Hamdulilah,and his muslim brother or companion should say to him 'Yar hamuka l lah(may ALLAH SWT bestow his mercy on you) when the latter says, Yar hamukal lah, the former should say, Yar dikumul lah wa Yuslih balakum (may ALLAH give you guidance and improve your condition). (this could be a lengthy process if you sneeze more than once!) but this has great barakha. |

| slm I read somewhere that when you yawn the devil is laughing at you. This was in an islamic context. In the same article I read that when a donkey brays he has seen the devil and when a cock crows he has seen God. Read it somewhere on the net.. wasalaam eleanor |
