question [validity of salah with non-menstrual fluid?]

I have an embarrassing question.  I have been agonizing over it for
quite some time.  I don't know who to ask!!

As you will see, it's quite embarrassing and I don't have a mother. I
can't ask my father or my local imam, as it would be too embarrassing.
So *please* help me if you can as soon as possible by answering my
question.

I know that one isn't allowed to pray during a state of impurity. I was
wondering if it is ok to do one's salah if one discharges vaginal
fluids?  (eeeeppp!! sorry) Is there another word for it? It's not during
menstruation; it's afterwards, sort of a yellowish, or a white color. The
discharge does not flow profusely; it's just spots here and there
during the day and has nothing to do with sexual arousment. Do you women
have any idea of what I'm talking about?

Sometimes it may happen while one are praying. Sometimes it happens and
one does not not even notice it until one uses the restroom and does
ghusul.

It's always good to wash yourself, which I do. But after you have made
wudu and it happens does it break it? What if water is not available?

If the regulars feel embarassed about answering this too but want to
respond pleas use the anonymous post, don't leave me in ignorance!
Thanks. May Allah reward you!

Don't stress sis.. la hayaa fid deen.  :)

I think there's an answer to your question here, specifically the last two posts in the thread.

Let us know if that doesn't answer your question.

take care :)

wasalaamu alaykum.

Assalamu alykum warahamatullahi wabaraktuh
I have gone to the link provided by se7en and here was the ruling concerning your problem, the reason I copied and pasted this fatwa,is because that post is too long to read and the second reason is that it is very important for muslimas to know about all fiqh concerning women problems. My friends and I have a study circle weekly and the book of menses,by Ibn Uthaymaeen, rahimahu -allah,was one of the books we decided to study:

Bismillaah, wal-hamdulillaah, was-salaatu was-salaam alaa-r-rasoolillaah.

Amma ba'd:

As-salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh!

Shaykh Ibnu-l-Uthaymeen was asked the following question:

Is the discharge that comes form the woman's vagina pure or impure?

His reply (hafithahullaah) is as follows:

What is well known according to the scholars is that anything that comes out of the private parts is impure, except for one thing, that is semen which is pure. Otherwise, anything of mass and weight that comes from the private parts is impure and nullifies the ablution (wudoo). Based on this principle, every liquid that flows from a woman's vagina is impure and requires wudoo. This is my conclusion after consulting with some scholars and doing some research. However, I have some problem with this conclusion because some women have such fluids all the time. If the flow is persistent, then the solution is to treat it in the same way that one treats the problem of uncontrollable urine flow. The person should make ablution for the prayer after the time of the prayer begins and then she should pray. Then I researched this question with some doctors. They made it clear that if the fluid is from the urethra, then the ruling is as I have just stated. However, if the fluid is from the uterus, then it is also as stated, but in this case the liquid is considered pure and one does not have to wash it off of whatever it touches.

Here ends the ruling of Shaykh Ibnu-l-Uthaymeen.

Please note that the area on the undergarment should be washed and cleaned if the liquid is not deemed to have come from the uterus for every prayer. But as stated if the fluid is understood to have been discharged from the uterus then wudoo is required but the washing is not, Allaah knows best.

Shaykh Ibn Baaz (raheemahullaah t'alaa) has a similar fatwaa, but he suggests washing the area regardless of where the fluid is deemed to have originated, and Allaah knows best.
