| Assalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullah SubhanAllah, I was just listening to an audio lecture last night, in which ALL of the speakers were urging the Muslims in the U.S. to take advantage of their freedom in the U.S. and continue to aid in the growth of Islam before it's too late, because apparently our freedom won't last long, as history tells us. Our hope and our success is with Allah (swt), so make du'aa that truth stands clear from error. As we all know, the TRUTH will prevail, we just have to be more actionary, rather than reactionary. IF EVER there was a time for too-late-da'wah, it would be now, folks. Right now, there are literally hundreds of chat sites that are blasting Muslims, Arabs, Palestinians, etc, all before anyone has clear evidence of who has committed these acts. IF anything, wAllahu'alim, I think it would be a good idea to get on there, and voice level-headed opinions and facts about the US's role in acting with impunity against other countries, now feigning innocence in it's own role to win enemies. Predictable result for siding with a terrorist nation for too long (israel), not that I condone senseless killing, I won't get into that. You may think of better solutions i'A, if so, please share, jAk. This media frenzy is exactly the kinda stage set for ad-dajjal, wAllahu'alim (national panic, call for a single leader, etc)...alhamdulillah, we should have the first 10 ayahs of Surat-al-Kahf memorized, as it is a protection from ad-dajjal (jAk, Kashif, for asking us to memorize that if we had not already). May Allah protect us, make us steadfast, and guide us to the words and actions that will please Him, aameen. La hawla wa la quwatta illa billah, there is no power or might save with Allah. |

On ABC news they just showed video of Palestinians dancing in the street out of joy for what happened to America, chanting "Allahu Akbar" :( Innocent people, childen, and babies were killed, I don't think they understand the severity of what just happened. America may have wronged much of the Muslim world, but I pray that as Muslims we understand that the death of THOUSANDS of innocent people is not a cause for celebration. Ya Allah guide us to the TRUTH, and keep us on the STRAIGHT path, never let our intentions get diverted and save us from misguidance. May Allah help the people who lost innocent family members today. | slm They mentioned on the news that 50,000 people work in those 2 buildings, not to mention how many thousands of people work/live in the nearby vicinity. ALL air traffic in the US has been stopped completely. No planes are allowed to take off, and all international planes coming into the US have been diverted to Canada, but I heard they have closed the airports there as well. The border with Mexico is closed completely as well. |

| what I can't understand is how come nobody found out, from Air Traffic control to the Intelligence bureu, surely somebody must have been alerted that 'heck' we've got two planes hijacked. And maybe they could have at least disabled one of the planes by using F-16 fighters rather than going all the way to the Pentagon and to the World Trade Center. I'm sure the Air Traffic is controlled by flight controllers on the land, but I can't understand if a plane took a different direction or route than one scheduled why no Alarm bells rang. |

| slm From what I heard on the news, they did know that at least one of the flights was hijacked. But really, what can be done when something like that happens? I don't think shooting at the airline is an option, it wouldn't go over too well with the public. No one imagined what could have happened. |

| They could have at least monitored the plane and provide an F-16 escort. I think at the WhiteHouse they have SAM's in situations like the one today, where they WOULD bring the plane down if it was going to crash into the WhiteHouse. |

One was a Boston-Los Angeles Flight, the other had left Washington for Los Angeles. |

I was just watching the news and they say they have reports and not generalizations that it was Osama bin Laden behind the attack. Will keep watching though. I think its a great idea to join the major CNN etc newsboards but it still feels scarey to know that you have to wake up tomorrow morning and face people who are likely to generalize and feel hostility towards you for the attack. Someone who posted previously was right, life for muslims is going to be even harder in the West IF it was an Islamic militant group behind the attack.:( By the way are there any signs of the last day, (like the smoke) that are relevant to todays tragic events? Just curious. Everything happens for a reason and I am pretty sure today is no exception. Hania :( |

It was eerily silent, seeing the sky without planes, noise or those light white streaks left in the high sky as planes fly above toronto. The entire city seemed quiet and shut down. This is Canada. I think, like me, most everyone is just indoors watching TV. About 12% of my city's population is Muslim. | We may never know who was behind this or what their reasoning was. The only thing I am worried about is what will happen to the poor innocent Muslims in this country or the one's abroad. I have a feeling the US will bomb the heck out of Afghanistan or Palestine for revenge. Don't they get that they are doing the same thing as the terrorists?? Punishing innocent people based upon the actions of a few. |

"Arab-Americans are as afraid, grieving and mourning as everyone else. But for us it's a double tragedy, because while we grieve, we're forced to look over our shoulder." Dr Zogby said he had received several death threats and was arranging security for his office. "I take such threats seriously since my office was fire-bombed in 1980," he said. Media lessons Ibrahim Hooper of the Council on American-Islamic Relations said such attacks were common when there was a crisis of this type, but that this time the scale was very different: "It's such a horrific incident". Mr Hooper said it was too early to tell what the long-term impact would be, but the media appeared to have learnt some lessons since the Oklahoma bombing. Then, there were over 200 anti-Muslim incidents reported in the first couple of days after the bombing. Mr Hooper said this time the press coverage had been quite balanced, apart from a few pro-Israeli commentators who had been trying to exploit the situation. Prejudice in the air But Dr Zogby was more critical. Some television stations had been guilty of feeding the speculation over who the perpetrators were, he said. "In some cases there's a self-imposed pressure to fill time with idle chatter. So called experts are called in, people with prejudices, who fill the air time with speculation about who did it and in some cases say 'go get the Arabs'." "What we're saying is: don't assume collective guilt or rush to judgement." Dr Zogby had been due to attend a Democratic Party National Committee meeting this week, which has now been postponed. The meeting was set to pass a resolution on protecting the rights of the Arab-American community which would decry some of the negative stereotyping that is prevalent in US society, he said. "Now, more than ever, this issue needs to be addressed," said Dr Zogby. There are between 6m and 7m American Muslims and around 3m Americans who have roots in the Arab world. |

| Assalamualaikum, Yes i think it is going to be harder for us muslims in the U.S. I go to a Islamic School and when we heard about the news and after we got those 2 bomb threats which by the way were the first 2 our school has ever gotten, we called the Security Guard and since we have 2 gates to come into the school we closed one gate, then after a little while this lady comes up and starts cursing at the security guard and says how we muslims are terrorists and everything and then leaves. Then at Maghrib when I went to prayer some people called and said they were worried about us cause most people believe it was muslims who did it, so they made 2 police come and said they will have to stay here so Allhamdullilah nothing happened after that but i know some people who had to hear people curse at them simply cause they were wearing a scarf one of them was my teacher who said when she was coming to school she stopped at a traffic light and then this guy who was was in the other car next to her started cursing at her and said how muslim's were terrorists she turned to him and said "You know what I am you, I'm from upstate New York, where just from a different Religion." We should jst pray that Allah makes this easier for us and people will soon see that we Muslims aren't terrorists or that we are not happy cause this happened I can understan why Palestinians were cheering when this happened cause they said now America see's what we have to go through everyday. | asalaam alaikum dear friends - i am very disturbed, as im sure many of you are. the drastic turn of events has really taken a toll on my heart. and to tell you all the truth, im extremely scared. not only for my own life, but for the lives of many of my fellow muslims. ive heard so many scary stories about the anger some ignorant americans are exerting towards muslims in general, instead of focusing on the main problem: one unknown terrorist who has taken a very wrong move and therefore jepordized the rest of us. yes, like jannah, i strongly suggest you all visit cnn.com, abc.com, etc etc and post your support and your CLEAR condemnation of the terrorist acts that have taken place. and please!! think before you post...clearly state that islam is pro-life in all cases....the prophet (saw) even restricted his armies from damaging surrounding wildlife, harming innocent women, children, and old people DURING a time of war...no way would ANY true muslim, or anyone following the tenents of islam ever suggest such a crazy and hateful act upon innocent city goers. also, sisters and brothers...PLEASE DONT TRY TO BE HEROIC. please try to be safe and make duaa that Allah (SWT) protect us all. do not leave your homes unless neccessary. this is a very dangerous time for all people from the mid-east....indians, iranians, pakistanis, arabs, etc etc....even a sikh man was attacked in boston this morning. please be safe. STRAIGHT AWAY people started accusing Islamic groups...they even detained an iraqi guy when he was goin to iraq in an emergency to see his dying grandmother!! when they found it was one of them...that must've him 'em hard.. no ones got any SOLID PROOF that it was Osama Bin Laden...*now* see who's the prejudiced, racist, terrorist state??! like everyone else...i'm worried anout our fellow muslims...we gotta be careful..one of my dad's mates is a taxi driver..one night sum guy knocked on his car window..he opened it and the guy asked if the mate was a muslim..the mate replied yes...after hearing the reply the damned guy hurled insults and abuse and threats...my dad's friend just rolled the window up..ignored him.. brothers and sisters.. we gotta be extra careful...especially if ur livin in the West...i'm in the UK and i heard on the news that our central mosque in Birmingham was constantly recieving threats.. so sad :( y'all take care...like a sister said..stay in doors unless u absoloutly *have to* go out the house..that applies to bro's aswell as sis's.. oh yeah...i remembered a hadith sayin that near the time of the last day there will be alotta traffic in the air... think about it.. i get a feeling dajjals gonna come very soon... take care and if anyone attacks..tell who the real terrorists are..give 'em a piece of your mind! wassalamualaikum warahmatullah zakira |
