AsalamAlay.com, Peace and e-Greetings be upon you. yesterday I began to think if I knew ANYONE muslim or not who might have been killed yesterday... The only one who came to mind was a muslim riba-Free investment banker I had met just days before at the ISNA convention. I quickly shuffled through my business cards and discovered his office was elsewhere. Alhumdulillah. has ANYONE here on JANNAH.org lost family/friends yesterday??? Surely, Muslims died. ~ HiMY! ~ |

| [slm] i ask you all to pray for safety for our ICNA-NJ finance person, Br Tariq Amanullah. We are all touched by his missing!! please please make a dua right now that he returns safely insha'Allah. He is a a great great brother of ours and he worked in World Trade Center!!! i am kinda personally attached to him.. as of wednesday, there is still no word of him!! we as community and ICNA-NJ community are not in our senses at all due to this!!! please pray!! It's really hard for all of us, waiting for any news. crying but still hoping all of us. He is the main person of ours, a great motivater.!! Tariq Amanullah's office was in Tower 2 of the WTC building. He called his family after the collapse of Tower 1 saying that he was ok. Shortly after, the collapse of the Tower 2 took place. The family has not heard from him since then. His brother & relative has gone out personally today to look for him in Manhattan in the list of hospitals that Emergency hotline provided them. | Assalamu alaikum, If only ONE Muslim died yesterday, then if the killer really was a so called Muslim, he'll be sent straight to the hellfire for killing a Muslim. Wouldn't they have thought of that??!!! |

| assalaam alaikum, estimated numbers range from 500-2000. cair and icna are currently compiling comprehensive lists. we do know that on the second floor of the world trade center they used to have a mosque where hundreds used to pray jumah. many of the muslim killed were poor immigrants who worked in the restaurants, as vendors etc. there were also international muslim companies in the world trade center itself, like a saudi investment firm and others one reporter said to me last week, 'so why did you come here today' (to the vigil) and i was like lost for words.. how could he ask me that.. like we haven't suffered or been hurt or grieve like everyone else.. like we're not human and don't find this loss of life appalling...? we are people who are taught not to even let an animal go thirsty for fear of the hellfire.. not even to break branches of trees for they too worship God...and he has to ask me that? anyways there were alot of muslims in WTC and probably in the petagon itself, i'm sure their families are suffering more than we. may Allah guide and protect them. |

| Salam Alaikum, What occured in New York was a very tragic inncident, Blessings be with the families of those lost, My brother was on his way there when it was all in occurance, inshaAllah, he hadnt arrived yet, Very lucky, As Muslims we need to be examples to the world that we're about peace and not war. My good friend Ali, is in the Marines, i havent heard from him so i assume he is at war, he has the kindest heart and wouldnt even hurt a fly, what do you suppose will happen to him considering he is probably at war right now in a Muslim country, I dont think he could kill another person, knowing that they are Muslim and could be innocent, and also knowing it is Harum, What is one to do in this obligative situation.Im just wondering what the opinion of another is.... AsalamAlay.com, Peace and e-Greetings be upon all of you. It's about 9 am here in Toronto Canada, Wednesday morning. Two weeks and a day after the...I still dunno what to call... 'it'. Added to my fortnight of sadness was the Madina board withdrawal I along with y'all experienced. This being a thread I started, it should be the first thread I post to now that the board is back, eh? So I was watching the telly and I see the brother from CAIR whom I had just met in person only days ago at the ISNA convention answer a journalist's question: "How many muslims died in the WTC?" Answer: "at least one thousand, perhaps as many as seventeen hundred." So I pause. Think out loud in my living room with no one else here OH MY GAWD. ONE THOUSAND or even ONE THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED muslims? DEAD? Dead. That means one QUARTER to one SIXTH of the 'Americans' who were murdered that day; That means one QUARTER to one SIXTH of the 'Americans' who the American PUBLIC are seeking vengence for; That means one QUARTER to one SIXTH of the 'Americans' of the people those NY Firefighters and NY Police and NY and other Rescue workers were desperately digging for; That means one QUARTER to one SIXTH of the 'Americans' who the world is going to war to avenge... are... ....muslims... I wondered out loud why didn't President Bush state this fact when he went to the Islamic centre (center) of Washington D.C. the Monday after? http://capwiz.com/cair/issues/alert/?alertid=52809&type=CU&azip= If the President had done so, would that not help to heal the current rage felt by 'average' Americans? | Sara they are talking about the hijackers? Recent Time magazine sucks... they keep trying to say that this is sanctioned by Islam when they have absolutely no basis. They don't quote any scholar at all. And keep mentioning that the hijackers did this so they could go straight to heaven etc etc. Newsweek is the same, their article gets into justifying islamic "jihad". Who are they to justify this when no Islamic scholar in the world does?? BTW I'm not surprised by that 1000+ number. Again remember that there were many foreign companies in the WTC and that most of the menial workers in the WTC, esp the restaurants were immigrants from Muslim countries. PS Himy we sent out an email to everyone when we made the board members only with the main entrance id and password. The emails were sent to the addy in everyone's profile. When big events and tragedies occur in the world, I *never* touch any American newspaper or magazine, unless I absolutely have to in cases where I want to point out their stupidness and hypocracy to prove a point or something. I used to read them a lot and check them up against each other, just a hobby I have, but then I got sick of it. I can't stand them during times like these. I like the British press much better and alternative news sources. [wlm] |

AsalamAlay.com Peace and e-Greetings be upon you. Today, Allah brought me to attend Jumah where I normally do not. That was a good thing. I attended Jumah salat at a downtown musallah and heard a khutbah by the Imam who you may have seen on TV as the UNCLE of the MUSLIM in Jail in Chicago. I would think it's been broadcast worldwide. The khutbah was good in itself and the Imam said nothing in it with relation to what happened yesterday to him or his family. After leading and completing the two rakats of Juma, the Imam, whose name doesn't really need to be posted here, asked for the Jamaat's patience of one minute so he could explain what may have been on everyone's mind. I'm typing out the following words exactly as best as I can remember the Imam saying to us. So in his own words (and may Allah help my memory and forgive me for not quoting his words exactly) : "LAST Thursday, (8 days ago, that is Sept 20th, 2001) I saw my his sister's son on the television..." "I was in shock." "I know my sister's son could never do that" (or words close to that effect referring to what the media was accusing his nephew of being a part of) "I was watching the TV and I couldn't hear what the journalist was saying...I only saw my sister's son's face...I was in shock..I know he could not anything like what they are saying." "Many of you know I have a business on ----- Street and I am the principal of an Islamic school." "I called the RCMP and told them I was his uncle and that I wish..would be happy and willing and open to help in any way I could." "The RCMP came to the Islamic school and they were nice and friendly and spoke politely with me for about one hour." "They said they would be in touch if they needed anything else." "Then Yesterday (Thursday Sept 27, 2001) They come to my business and kick down the door" "They come with machine guns, they come to my business." "They come to my home with machine guns." "They spend five hours at my business going through all my papers." (At this point I cannot remember the EXACT words he said But he very briefly described that they just came and went through all his things at work and at his home. Well, The Imam had no worries about anything, as he told us, he just relied on Allah and he felt no worry or fear.) "Yesterday I spent ONE HOUR with the CBC answering EVERY THING they ask." (CBC is the Canadian Broadcasting Corp.) "After answering the truth about Islam the CBC only used 5 seconds from the ONE HOUR interview. Can you imagine how many seconds are in one hour, and they only use 5 seconds!" "Since they left, I have received fifty-eight messages on my telephone. From Time and NEwsweek and I don't care. They are useless for me." (The Imam said something very eloquent about how he only cares about Allah and that he doesn't care for any of this media.) ...The Imam went on say a few more things, but, as I can't properly recall his words as much as I would like, I won't type anything more here. The point is, ALL THAT reporting we're allowing ourselves to buy into is useless. Allah knows the truth. CNN. TIME. CBC. NEWSWEEK. They ain't interested in the truth. If they were, They'd be printing/broadcasting the Qur'an 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. eh? I was too shy to go up to the Imam to ask more about it. He answered what most of us in Toronto who know him and pray behind him were thinking, wondering. Shaytaan sneaks into your heart and mind once in a while and seeds doubts about fellow muslims. I feel stupid that I even allowed for a second any doubt about this Imam when I saw his store on Television local news yesterday night. Shaytaan sometimes wears a tie and suit and shows up on TV. |
