| Bismillahi Rahman ir Rahim STATEMENT OF READINESS TO BE TRIED ON THE FACTS "Say: He is Allah, the One and Only; Allah, the Eternal, Absolute; He begetteth not, nor is He begotten; And there is none like unto Him." That is the root of my faith. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah. He is one and alone, worthy of all praise and worship. I pray that Allah's peace and blessings be upon His last Prophet and Messenger, Muhammad, son of Abdullah, and his family and those who follow him. I seek Allah's protection from Satan, the rejected. I ask Allah to guide my heart and to guide my tongue. I seek refuge in Allah from misleading and being misled, from betraying and being betrayed into ignorance by others. May these few words that I offer be a warning to the heedless, a guide to the erring, an assurance to those in doubt, a solace to the suffering, a hope to those in despair and glad tidings to the believers. I stand ready, and seeking resolution of an unjust situation, as I have since its outset eighteen months ago: I am innocent of all of your charges. I have asked from the beginning to be tried on the facts of this case, and not in the news media as I have been from its outset. I do so based upon what my Lord has revealed: "Say, verily my Lord dost cast the (mantle of) truth (over His slave). He that has full knowledge of (all) that is hidden. Say: "The truth has arrived, and falsehood neither creates anything new, nor restores anything." (Qur'an 34:47-48). Truth smashes the brains out of falsehood. Truth comes and falsehood is vanquished, for falsehood by its nature is bound to perish. I am told that a trial at this time is not wise...that fear has silenced reason; that the cry for vengeance is too loud; that the thirst for blood must first be quenched; that the orgy of murder must be played out; and, all of the people must be made to eat and drink of it. I am advised that because of patriotism in this country at this time I am unable to have a "fair trial." Shouldn't it be the opposite? In a land that has said that freedom is the pinnacle of its moral argument..that life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness its banner of moral authority; that justice is the master virtue, the scales upon which is weighted its law and order. And in God we trust. Or is that just another dream speech? For I am a testimony to your law. I am told that there is free speech, but I am gagged and prevented from declaring my innocence. You speak to me of religious freedom, but I am not allowed to pray according to my faith. You guarantee life, except by Rowe v. Wade; liberty is guaranteed, but not for the ex-slave and Native-American; your pursuit of happiness, always at the expense of the poor. O say can you see! Justice and law march to two different drummers, to totally different conversations. But, then I am reminded of a quote from Huey P. Long, a former governor of Louisiana. He was asked, "Will fascism come to America?" He replied, "yes, but it will be called patriotism." Shepherds may change, but sheep will always remain the same. Maybe by my being Muslim and imprisoned by you, my Lord has given me an opportunity that I may be offered as a substitute to allow you to avert your planned carnage. If your trying me and killing me satisfies your taste for Muslim blood and spares the life of Muslim women and children, then I bare my chest to the sword. I do not complain about my situation. It is the (qadr) decree of Allah. If Allah is not displeased with me, then I am pleased with what Allah has decreed for me. I seek refuge in the honor of Allah and His power, from the evil which I find and watch out for. His is the primal creation. He begins and repeats the creation. Nothing can or will happen except by His leave. He is the Lord who delivered Abraham from the fire, saved Lot from Sodom and Gomorrah, a people who practiced abominations; sustained Noah through the flood; released Joseph from prison; saved Moses from Pharaoh; caused David to slay Goliath, cleared Jesus of the blasphemy of the disbelievers; and, gave light to His Prophet, Muhammad, so that his was a manifest victory. It is to this Lord that I turn. Empires rise and fall, worldly powers can and do defy right, and misused intelligence (intellect) may obscure Allah's light, but Allah in His own good time separates good from evil. I believe, both by certain faith and by intuition, that there is no power and no might except with Allah, the High, the Mighty, and that I do not move of myself but am moved by Him. I do not work of myself, but am used by Him. I ask Him first of all to reform me and then to reform through me, to guide me and then to guide through me, to show me the truth of what is true, and to grant of His bounty that I may follow it, and to show me the falsity of what is false and to grant of His bounty that I may turn away from it. I pray that Allah Almighty will number me among those whom He has chosen and elected, whom He has led to the truth and guided, whom He has inspired to remember Him and not to forget Him, who He has preserved from the evil in themselves so that they do not prefer anything to Him, and whom He has made His own so that I serve only Him. And, that He gives me the Grace to lead the righteous. I am Allah's slave. And when they ask you about this slave of Allah, tell them to ask the Rabbi of the Rabbis, for they are the source of their religion; and, to ask the Popes of both the church of the east and the west, for they are the guardians of their religion; and, ask their holy men, and their seers, and their scientists, and their leaders of their "new world religion." Ask them, is this a new charge launched aganist disbelief? And, what is its orgin? Even, who is this slave? I invite you to Islam. Become Muslim and receive two rewards, good in this life and good in the Hereafter. O Allah, have I delivered the message: O Muslims, have I delivered the message? Imam Jamil stands ready to be tried on the facts of the case. Judge Stephanie B. Manis granted the continuance and rescheduled a new trial date to begin January 7, 2002. |

| Wow. The Director of [url=http://www.peacethrujustice.org]the Peace and Justice Foundation[/url] came to our masjid on Sunday. He gave an awesome lecture and spoke a little about Jamil al-Amin -- how with his trial, Islam and Muslims will be put on trial. And how we need to be prepared for it. January 7th y'all.. wasalaamu alaykum. |
