Asslamu Alikum I've been meaning to introduce myself for a while but never got around to it. My name's Shakila or Shella for short and I'm from Scotland, UK. I really missed logging on since the terrorist attacks in America, that was until today when I found out that I can still log on. I don't know many muslim's in 'bonnie Scotland' and find that this is a great way to keep in touch and find more about Islam. I think the muslim community on this web page are fanatastic (Mashalla) and such a friendly bunch. Since the US tradegy, i've been glued to the TV watching the events unfold, but I've now come to the conclusion I'm wasting my time watching it and need to do something about it. I have made a lot of dua but want to know how the muslim voice can be heard in this propaganda against muslims. Any ideas welcome. |

Welcome to the board. I hope you enjoy your stay. There's tons that we can do, first and foremost is to change our ways and come back on to the true deen and also we can make dua that we ourselves come closer to Allah in this test. I'll post some more later, insha-allah. And depends where you in in bonnie Scotland. Theres loads of muslims :). Hanif |

Assalamu 'Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh Thanks for the welcoming party!! :) I'm from Glasgow, but at the mo staying in Edinburgh. It's weird that the water taste changes when you go down South. I once went to vist my sis in Leeds and I couldn't even drink the water there!! Shella |

Assalamu alakum Shella I've always wondered what Haggis is and what it tastes like! Can you enlighten me on this lovely delicacy from wee bonnie Scotland? Hania |

salaamz, I haven't actually ever tasted Haggis b4, but just looking at it doesn't make me even want it. I remember every year on Rabbie Burns day (25th Jan) I had to endure going to the school canteen and seeing this dish on the menu. (Yuk!) Haggis is basically made up of sheep's offal, so what happens is that the sheep's parts (i.e. heart, liver & lungs) are stuffed back into its own stomack lining and cooked. Not a pretty sight!!! :) There is a vegetarian haggis available in the supermarkets but never tried that either. Not many Scottish people eat haggis on a daily basis though. wassalaam Shella |
