[slm] Allama Muhammad Iqbal said this verse of poetry right when WWI began: Ager Usmaaniyon per koh-e-gham tootaa to kyaa gham hai? Ke khoon-e-sad hazaar anjum say hotee hai sahar paida! Translation: So what if a mountain of grief has struck the Ottomans? For it is the death of a 100,000 stars that gives rise to a bright dawn! Unfortunately, no bright dawn appeared after WWI for the Muslims! But I'm compelled to say this today: Ager Afghaaniyon per koh-e-gham tootaa to kyaa gham hai? Ke khoon-e-sad hazaar anjum say hotee hai sahar paida! Translation: So what if a mountain of grief has struck the Afghans? For it is the death of a 100,000 stars that gives rise to a bright dawn! |

[slm] I loooooovvveee Muhammad Iqbal's poetry...His "Javad Namma" inspired me a lot. But i have to disagree with the metaphor you are using:
So what if a mountain of grief has struck the Afghans? For it is the death of a 100,000 stars that gives rise to a bright dawn!
during these times of what seems like despair for Muslims, I am still yearning to see one bright shining star standing on the precipice of true valor and humility, let alone 100,000. Don't stars have to shine before they finally fade into dawn's welcoming rays? |
