Assalamualaikum wr wb Just some scribblings by me. The tipping scale Back in my third grade The teacher used to tell us A scale is used to weigh things To judge the cost of some So when you want a good measure Always strive to ensure That both ends of the scale balance Standing equal to each other Only then can we be assured That all have been measured. Those were days so long passed A scale I've not seen for ages Things are measured not for their worth But how much can they help to gain For nothing is equal anymore And fairness is a subjective bore The scale almost always tip one side Balance is much an aftersight. So was my teacher wrong those days "Don't tip the balance", oft she said For in the world I see today The scale always tip one side To the side of the mighty and the big The bully, the oppressorof the weak Regardless of all the truth on one side Its the heavier lies that people abide An ancient tool with a sad tale The lament of the tipping scale. ~ Solehah 29/09/2001 |
