Heaven or Hell

I have a question about the following verse in the Quran:

"Those who have disbelieved and died in disbelief, the earth full of
gold would not be accepted from any of them if one offered it as a
ransom.  They will have a painful punishment, and they will have no helpers."
(Quran, 3:91)

Is this talking about people who have learned of Islam and said it was
wrong?  Or is it speaking of anyone who is not a Muslim?  I know
Christian people who do not believe Islam or Christianity is wrong, but that
choose to practice Christianity.

There are people in this world that will never have the chance to learn
about Islam.  Will these people go to hell because they don't know?

Thank you.

We spoke a little about this before, check out the thread here.

Hope that helps, and feel free to ask any other q's you may have! :)

assalaamu alaikum

There is a statement of the Prophet Muhammad that goes with this verse of the Qur'an:

"A disbeliever will be brought on the Day of Resurrection and will be asked. "Suppose you had as much gold as to fill the earth, would you offer it to ransom yourself?"

He will reply, "Yes."

Then it will be said to him, "You were asked for something easier than that (to join none in worship with Allah, but you refused)."

I know someone who is Mormon.  He does not believe in the
trinity.  He believes in one God, but he is not Muslim.  So this means he
is not condemed to hell, right?
