i've always thought that wearing nail polish
while you have your period is okay is this true?
ie because u don't have to make wudu

(plus it seems to act as a signal for all dad's and bro's who
ask u why u aren't praying!!)

As far as I know its harram sis, if you die in that condition then you will be in an unclean state becuase water will not be able to reach the nails, when they give you ghusal.
Unless its nail varnish that allows water through.

Best bet just avoid it.

wa alaykum as salaam wa rahmatAllah,

(I feel like this is my usual line...)  Actually, scholars do have some differing opinions on this subject.  Those who say it is permissable say that - because a woman is not obligated to perform salah during this time, and therefore is not obligated to make wudu, it's fine for her to wear it.  Those who say it is not bring up the issues of "ornamenting yourself" for other than maharem, and also imitating the kuffaar.

So there are some different opinions out there.  I'd suggest you talk to your imam or someone knowledgeable in your community about this.

Nail polish remover is available at any pharmacy bro.  I'm sure those who are performing the washing would use it.

But that's an interesting point.. one I never thought about before.  Hmm..

that's what i think also. but many nail polish might contain haram stuff. so u'd have to find a halal one. btw any body kno any makeup which is okay for muslimahs to use, doesn't contain any haram stuff?

also this is just my opinion but wouldn't it be better for a girl to get married when she has her period? because she could put make up on and not have to pray namaz. but then again the other girls would put make up on also and she might get their sin also?????

:) I know your comment was not meant to amuse, but it did. Imagine someone marrying just so that they can put make up on. I don't get the part about getting others sin for putting make up on? "No bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another."

Interesting thought.
I wonder how her husband would feel on their wedding night?- especially if she planned it that way....

Well, that was my Plan A, if I do get married.. easy eh? But to think that you won't be able to do your sunnah solat after your nikah with your DH, I cancelled that idea off.

New Plan A,

1) Take wudhu before putting all of those make-up.
2) Have nikah in the late morning.
3) Do the sunnah solat after nikah.
4) By the time, it's Dhuhr, we can take wudhu again and pray...
5) Freshen up, change clothes and apply new make-up
6) Have lunch at the reception (walimah)
7) Khalas!

That way, we'll look fresh all day long...

That's D-Idea... ta'aruf, first before anything else. ha ha

So is it ok to wear make-up as long as you wash it off when you make wudu?

well, it depends if you have a light make-up on.. or tonnes of it, with those false eyelashes... man.. those false eyelashes... I ain't gonna be Mr Snuffleopegus.

Having wudhu would give radiance to you, anyways... I don't see how we can lose out... a 'lil hassle would go a long way, inshaAllah :)

*Ears perking* Do I see an expert on make up and marriage here ? Ahha, why didn't I notice things like this ? Here I am thinking my lil Sis Barr is an innocent make-up free single girl :-) He he.

But Sis take it from someone who planned her wedding based on her asignment due date and STILL got her period on that very day...sigh..just do it.

BTW you must have picked up the make up skills after you followed me to Tangs for the make up demo huh ? lol

slm,
LOL,  I'm sure they'd be filled with joy and happy coz their wife looks good;)

ok i hav a better idea:
wouldn't it be EASIER to avoid make up and show off ur real beauty;)
..and if ur too sensative about ur looks u could use a veil (more islamic-make sure ur non-mehrams don't c ya;))

but if u wanna wear make-up just wear it lightly so u can wash it off:)for ur salah!! Like u lot hav said:)

Any ways, whos getting maried???

take care,
w'salaam

Kathy, if the question is not in the bank of questions that have been asked previously, you can present your question to the scholars and they will answer it at your turn insha Allah.

Probably false eyelashes come under the same ruling as hair attachements.  The whole idea behind making wigs and hair attachemnts haram is (the way I understand it) because you're being deceitful about your appearance, disguising the way you really look.  False eyelashes do that too so the same logic probably applies.

I think Sis Mariam is right. It applies to false eyelashes to. I asked an ustaz, and he said the same thing. But I couldn't get more info out from him as he was in a rush. Sorry.

Islam Q&A:
Question:
Is wearing false nails and eyelashes permissible or not?

Answer:
Praise be to Allaah.

It is not permissible to wear false eyelashes because this comes under the ruling on wearing hair extensions.

Wearing false nails that are long and look like the claws of wild animals is something that has come to us from the kuffaar; our sharee’ah enjoins us to cut our nails and not let them grow long, so why would we want to go against our sharee’ah?

We ask Allaah to guide us.

Question:

Is there any sin involved in a woman wearing nail polish? What should she do when doing wudoo?

Answer:

Praise be to Allaah.

We do not know of any ruling on that, but it is better not to use it, because there is no need for it, and because it may prevent the water reaching the skin when doing wudoo’. In brief, it is better not to use it, and to be content with henna, because that which the earliest Muslim women used is better. If a woman does use it, then she has to remove it when doing wudoo’, because – as we said – it prevents the water from reaching the skin. And Allaah is the Source of strength.

 I hope this helps. :)
