| Assalaam Alaikum Warahmatullah Wabarakatuhu, My dear brothers and sisters, For the next 3 months inshaAllah I will be overseas studying in Syria. While this probably, well definitely is not the best time to go, personal circumstances make this a window of opportunity. If I don't take it, I feel that in my heart I will miss my chance. While this has been my plan for awhile, it only has come to realization now a few days before I have to leave. I pray that in this time of difficulty and trial for the Muslims the world over, Allah keeps you safe and rewards you for your efforts. Please pray for me, that my journey is safe and beneficial for this life and the hereafter. My departure leaves the board with one less admin. To make up for that we have put into place a system that inshaAllah will make the board work well. The moderators will monitor the postings on the board. They will remove/edit any posts against the constitution or what they feel are improper posts. When they do this they will Madina Message or email the user and cite why their post was edited or removed. They may also close any thread that violates the constitution, rehashes old topics or delves into banned topics. Any user who disagrees can take the issue up with the said moderator. If moderators have questions/disputes, they should be taken to the administrators - Se7en and Arshad. The admin will then make a decision together. They may wish to consult or take a vote of the moderators for advice. If the admin disagree on an issue and can't come to some agreement, compromise or consensus, then it will be up to a neutral third party, brother Abdulbasir in this case, to try to mediate or failing that, make a decision with the help of a scholar i.e. Imam Mokhtar Maghraoui. I trust this brother to make a neutral objective decision with the benefit of the board as the priority. Se7en will monitor and post the anonymous messages. Arshad will monitor and upgrade the new registrants. I think that should cover all administrative aspects of the board. Now onto the Madinians :) One of the reasons, actually THE reason we re-opened the board to the public 2 weeks ago was because we felt we needed to make some type of major DAWAH effort to the public. To teach them what Islam is, what Islam stands for, how Islam teaches peace and not violence. From the re-opening of this board until now I have yet to see a single post which is pro-Dawah and beneficial to non-Muslims or others wanting to understand Islam. What I do see is a lot of politics, Muslim leader bashing, criticisms, and in fighting. What was the point of opening the board? Especially at a time now when HUNDREDS of the curious are examining what Muslims say or do at the minutest level with microscopes. Just the fact that we have had at least 10 non-Muslims post anonymously asking questions in the last 2 weeks should tip us off that there are tons of people reading every single message on this board trying to figure out what Muslims are about. *Everything* we say is going to count as either a positive or a negative Dawah. Please, I'm asking you all to think really hard about that and think really hard about the words you are posting especially at this time. And admin and moderators think really hard if keeping the board open is actually beneficial or not, especially when it just breeds fighting, resentment, hatred and other things among Muslims. I pray in the next three months that you all make this board a helpful, useful and most of all a beneficial one. Fee amanah Allah, Jannah |

And on your return, you can pass on the knowledge you acquired to the Madinians. :) I'm sure the moderators and the other Admins are competent to handle the job in your absence. The board fluctuates from time to time in the quality and quantity of our posts. But for these past few days, there are a lot of posts that are in the right direction, too, alhamdulillah. It is through these posts that we see the feelings and words that is kept in many of our hearts translated to words for others to see. But more importantly, we have a community here. People who care for and love each other , that trancends distance and unknown faces because of Allah. We make du'a for each other, cry and feel for each other's posts. We login, and logout beause of Allah. And that is the sweetness of iman, that Allah has given us. And what is from the heart, can be felt by the other hearts... so, ukhti...I'm sorry if I'm being a bit sweeping in saying this, but please don't be too hard on this board. Like you said, a lot more non-Muslim started visiting and asking, alhamdulillah... and I think this board has a lot more to offer. We have past threads of various nature that they can go through... to see the bunch of people that we are and maybe, see what Islam is, albeit our weaknesses, inshaALlah. So, there may be some posts that may not be one of the ideal posts that we wished it could be. But... that's sunnatullah. Things like this happen, but alhamdulillah, you and your team have taken steps to improve it, and that is very commendable, mashaALlah :) ... We don't live in a Utopia, and the message board can't always be a Utopia that we can escape to. | Salam, Syria.. sounds great. A few of my friends have studied Arabic and Islamic studies in Syria and all of them greatly enjoyed and benefited from their experience. May every minute you spend in Syria be one that is added to your good scale and one that will help you on the Day of Judgement, and may the knowledge you gain be a benefit for you, your family, and all of those you come into contact with. | Jazakallah khair for all your good wishes :) I just wanted to clarify something, when I said there were no good pro-dawah posts since the opening of the board.. i meant after the REopening 2 weeks ago after we had made the board password protected. I do believe though of course before that we've had alot of good posts and discussions that were beneficial. :) |

| [slm] Jannah, My cousin returned from Syria a few months ago after studying arabic at Damascus uni for 6 months. Now my other cousin is there doing the same but for longer. You might see her there! Will you be studying Arabic? The place itself is beautiful, lots of history, scenery and friendly people. I should also mention the food which is awesome(supposedly) and very cheap. So too is the accomodation. Just don't eat from those cheap food outlets on street corners, they've never heard of hygeine or you'll end up spending your 3 months there in the toilet rather than doing something more constructive ;-D Enjoy the 3 months, soak up the atmosphere. Sometimes its nice to get away from daily life, be alone and reflect upon other things with no one around you. To do it in another land is even better and not everyone is blessed with this opportunity. Have a safe journey. [wlm] |
