On your webpage about women located at: http://www.jannah.org/sisters/compare.html you mention the chapter in the Bible: Ecclesiasticus 25:19,24 The book Ecclesiastes stops at Chapter 12. So where on earth have you found this verse from? I am extremely confused. |

Hi Anonymous, I'm not the author of the article but I tried a simple search on Ecclesiastes on yahoo and found alot of sites with the whole what looks like 51 chapters, like this one, which has the verses mentioned in the article. http://www.tldm.org/bible/old%20testament/eccltus.htm |

Dear Anonymous, Different sects have different lengths of certain books in the Bible. Also, different editions of the Bible have major and minor differences in it. For example, a verse, or two, a chapter or a paragraph may be omitted or put back in. Usually, if you read the Preface or the Exegesis, they explain in it why something has been omitted or put back in. There are two very famous verses from the New Testament that have gone through this process. I know what they are about but I would like to be exact so inshallah (God willing) I will get back to you on that. |

Thanks for the link! If you notice the intro on that page, that particular book is only recognized within the Catholic faith. The Bible itself does not include a book called "ECCLESIASTICUS" but it does include a book called "ECCLESIASTES" (very similar indeed!) which only has 12 chapters. I appreciate the reference to the book in the article, however, I think it would be better if it was made a bit more clearer that only the Catholic church accepts this text, and not *all* Christians. |

*Ahem*....an apostate from Christianity here to add some useless facts: The Catholics have seven additional books in their Old Testament (Tobit, Judith, 1st and 2nd Maccabees, Wisdom of Solomon, Ecclesiasticus (aka Sirach), ajd Baruch). Catholics call these books deuterocanonical. Protestants think that these books are inauthentic (and uninspired by God) and they call them The Apocrypha. |
