I'm feeling pretty run down at the moment and feel like I need a bit of a break.  Can any of you recommend any kind of retreat, whereby I can recharge my batteries from a deen point of view as well as physically.

I basically just want to chill out but in a way that will refresh me spritiually as well as physically.  Sorry, I don't mean to sound like an old hippie there but you know what I mean.

Jazaka Allah Khair

hmm good question let me think a bit more.

What kind of activity are you afer ? Walk in the lakes or something like wind surfing ?

Or do you just wanna punch the bag, swim and lift weights ?

Bro Harris I think theres a good market for this activity in the UK, I mean there isn't a special muslim/non muslim activity that lifts one spiritually and physically, well not that I know of.
Maybe you could start something, I'd help in counting your profits :).

Hmm

Assalamu'alaikum :-)

I'd say... go North.

SCOTLAND SCOTLAND SCOTLAND

They have these cabins on the hills and highlands that you can rent during the weekend or for a week. Away from the busy bustling of the city. All you see is nature, mashaAllah. You can go hiking and horseback riding... go do some reflecting by a stream, read a book under the trees... it's like home away from home, since you don't have travel *that* far, and no foreign foods to adapt to... it's self catering too.

OK, gotta go, take care, akhi...
I can't wait for Ramadhan... inshaAllah, that will be another boost for us to inrease in strength for our ruh :)

slm,

i agree with sr. barr... i dont know much about whats near you in the UK, but one thing i would *highly* recommend is that you look into getting away for a few days in someplace in the mountains... a few years ago my family and i went on a vacation to the canadian rockes, and subhanallah.. its one of the most beautiful, serene, peaceful places i have ever been to... the scenery is just totally amazing.. just spend some time and relax amongst nature and just soak it all in (and take plenty of pictures :) )

If your thinking of coming up to Scotland you better get ready soon, as its getting a bitty cold here now!

Scotland is lovely up North in Summer (apart from the midges!!)  I've been to a town called Banchory (near Aberdeen)a couple of years ago in Autumn, and subhanallah it was lovely.  The colours of autumn I saw, of the leaves turning a different colour was beautiful.  It's worth coming to see but just don't come in a rainy day! ;-D

Or if you can't take a couple of days off, why don't you go near the sea somewhere, I've always found watching the waves going in and out relaxing & great to chill out too, esp if u get a quiet spot.

Oh yeah... When I went for a camp, in the middle of summer at a Scout's campsite up in Edinburgh... it was so chilly there, then already! Brrrrr...

I wonder how those men during the olden Scottish time keep up with the cold with only kilts on! Subhanallah...

Br Haaris... how about going for umrah during Ramadhan? I heard MAB may be orgajising a group to go over. Maybe you can check that out, inshaAllah?

who, knows... we may meet, inshaAllah... and I can get to know the famous Mrs C :-)

wassalam :-)
