| Okay! NOW WHAT? ---------------- Okay. The US has begun striking at Afghanistan. Now what? As helpless spectators of this merciless drama, what is left for us? Nothing but to sit dumb in front of the idiot Box and listen to the verdicts of the Zionist-controlled media channels. And thus become a greater Idiot. The Third World media has no choice but to ‘uplink’ their channels to the same biased media and feed the same junk to its viewers. It is only now that some countries have realized the value of their own media. But so sad! The biggest threat is already planted in your living room. It’s futile to declare war outside the home when the enemy is inside. The biased media controls what we know and how much should we know. But is information a thing to be measured as such? Sit back and make a fool out of yourself blindly accepting the verdicts of News Networks... 'coz you simply have no choice. You have not realized your own worth as yet... |

I can't stomache more than five minutes of this propaganda nonsense they're trying to shove down people's throats. I'm sticking with listening to NPR and struggling to understand Al Jazeerah for any real information about what's going on, and fumbling for something.. *anything* I can actually do to change things. |

| Did you guys do that anti war protests? I heard Sep. 30 (?) colleges around the country were gonna protest... non muslim and muslim org. did that ever happen? |

| as salaam u 'alykum even npr and pacifica are too much on the right for me now. its disgusting how pacifica ended some of its programing. i had to listen to them since i was in the car and even npr was making me sick. |

| wa alaykum as salaam wa rahmatAllah, Pacifica's wack as well.. I can't believe they got rid of Democracy Now -- I hear it's now working out of a garage or something, "resistance radio". That is an amazing show. What's interesting is that the station we have our Muslim radio show on, WRPI, is in conflict with Pacifica right now. WRPI plays Democracy Now, and is one of the "stations in exile". | [slm] What I want to know is if it's possible to get al-jazeera in the US? I noticed that some state dept. people were complaining to Qatar gov't about it, and Qatar rightly said that it's a freedom of speech issue. Anyways it will be a quick way to finally learn arabi! [wlm] |

| The al Jazeera stuff... i checked out their site only to find out that they DONT have an english version. What abt their TV? Do thy subtitle it? (Although they dont need to, since it is meant for Arabic speaking ppl only). Is it coming in the ARABSAT direction? The problem with the Arab media is that they dont see beyond the middle east. Thye arent bothrered to convey their message to other peoples. And this is basically why the Palestininan issue suffered for so long. The West until now thought of 'Israeli STATE' and palstininan TERRITORIES. Palestinina Freedom fighters were pictured as hijackers and terrorists while Israeli muirderers were called security forces. Even the English papers here in middle east report with the same junk phrases. Recently the Arab league REALIZED (al hamdu lillah) that the Arabs' cause suffered because they had a bad hand at the international media. And thus decided to do something abt chaired by Hanan al Ashravi. Al Jazeera may be a brilliant channel, but whats the use when its mainstream audience generally lacks the political conscience that is seen around other parts of the world. I wish someone from the honorable Arab community comes up with a solution for this issue. Someone with the analytic spirit of al Ghazali and the accuracy of Ibn Khaldun. 'God! Send us someone from somewhere to the rescue of the ummah. Are we not the best of all peopless? Are we not the folowers of your Beloved (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)?' |
