Assalamu alaikum,

My name is Nishath and I'm from India.

I'm very fond of reading. No matter how busy I am I can
always find time for it.

Soon after my graduation two years ago I started
reading books on Islam so as to make myself a better Muslimah.
I have been visiting your website for the past one month
and Masha Allah it is very informative.

I think this should suffice for my introduction.

Great to have you here on board with us.
Hope you enjoy it here. Which part of India are you from?
I heard recently that the ruling party has banned the students Islamic Organisation after the WTC crashes stating that it has links with Al-Qaeda and Kashmiri mujahideen. Can you enlighten us on what's happening to the muslims of India.

Learner, it's not the Students Islamic Organization(SIO), but the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). SIO is the student orgn of Jamaat-e-Isami-Hind.

This shows the hypocrisy of Indian Govt. The same day Prime Minister Vajpayee tells the nation that the war is not against Islam, it's against terrorist. The same day the Indian Govt.'s muslim face, the puppet, Omar Abdullah, meets the ambassadors of muslim countries and tells them the same. And then they ban SIMI.

Yes, the charge against them is that they have links with Al-Qaeda and Kashmiri militants. But few days ago, the chief of Police of Kashmir said that there is no evidence linking SIMI with any of the organisations over there. Also, 2 people were killed in the police firing in Lucknow demonstrating against the ban.

The Govt agencies and the Police have started harassing the madarasas in the north. Last friday, a maulana had come to our mosque said that they need to furnish the details of every student with the police. is this the democracy ? is this the secularism ?

Also, few months ago, 3 students were picked up from Darul-uloom, Deoband. Later, those students were released after proven innocent. This madarsa was the forefront of freedom struggle against the Britishers. Now the same madrasa is seen with suspicion.
