Assalam-o-Aliakom!

Well first of all thanks to sr. Princess & sr. Se7en who replied to my private messages since I am trying to get accostomized to use this board.

I am 29 years old and belongs to Pakistan. I have been working in U.A.E. as a Network Administrator for last five years. One thing more what I would like to share with you buddies is that I am going to get married on 14 Oct so I expect from my married fellows that they would give me good advices and tips to start successfull marriage.

Assalamu'alaikum :-)

Shadi Mubarak! Aap ti hai? Marhaba! *see? I can speak Urdu* :)

And this is my poem to welcome you and some tips on marriage (this contains about my entire limited Urdu vocab):)

vo kaha hai?
... YOu'll have a  meri mal and meri bul bul soon,
And can eat garem roti with dania at noon,
Together you can wash your chopra with sabun
You'll have a new ammi mahboobi and appi,
And a bahai and a bhabi,
Don't forget the old-timers dada and dadi...
ANd if you get into trouble with your sesseraal,
You say "Duh!
Muji nahi maalum... me no speak Urdu!" ;-D

errr.. well, this is what I got living with Pakistani, Indian and Bangladeshi sisters for 3 whole years! Oh! mah sisters would be proud of me! ;-D

Oh yes! I went to India last January! To Calcutta... I really enjoyed my time there, mashaAllah! one of my dearest sister got married there.. and she surprised me with a return ticket! Subhanallah! They've got beautiful materials for clothes. My tip for you is.. if you're a sister... get your wedding dress material from India! If not... errr...well.. get a kurta pajama....

Take care! Hope you'll like it here!

P.S. Old Malay people always say.. don't eat the neck of the chicken or you'll have a wobbly neck that'll always tilt on the side when you get married.

Assalamo elikuim
Mubarik, May Allah bless you and your spouse with a long and happy married life, Ameen.

" my parents always say something about not eating out of the pot otherwise it'll rain on your wedding day *laugh* but don't worry bhai, whatever happens it is by the will of Allah"

Actually I am the living proof of it that it is not true :) I have been eating from the pot(kheer/ferni/rice pudding) since I was very young and everybody was joking about it and expecting rain on my wedding and was concerned about it since the  reception was in the lawn but it didn’t rain  :)!!

Also
"P.S. Old Malay people always say.. don't eat the neck of the chicken or you'll have a wobbly neck that'll always tilt on the side when you get married. "

I am a neck eatter i.e. chicken neck eatter and i think my neck is fine :)

So all the single pot eaters and chicken neck eatter, have no worry, Inshallah :)!!
