Salamu alaykum warahmatulah,

Ramadan is fast approaching inshaAllah and it is a good time to start making preparations for Ramadan to maximise the tarbiyyah (training) skills we can develop and rewards for the good deeds we are carrying out.

We are thinking of developing a booklet on Ramadan and distributing it during Taraweeh. There are a number of topics we are going to include and are looking for suggestions from our dear brothers and sisters.

You are probably wondering, rightly why do Muslims need a booklet on Ramadan? Last year I had the best Ramadan, Mashaallah because it was an informed Ramadan and incorporated dawwah and self development and alot of reading on the net!

We would like for all our brothers and sisters to experience this.

I firstly ask that you make dua so we can sustain ourselves and complete this project and also we get donations to print and distribute it.

Secondly, I will really appreciate some ideas on topics you feel should be covered, eg why do Muslims use the lunar calendar?, Health benefits for fasting duraing Ramadan, what nullifies fasting? Dua for before fasting and after fasting etc etc

Please give me some constructive feedback on the projected booklet and as much information as possible on topics you feel should be incorporated.

Good news is, if this project gets off the ground inshaAllah ta'la we can send you a "e copy" and you can get it published your self.

May Allah allow you to spend a blessed Ramadan, expire your bad deeds and renew your energy, optimism, eman and ebada.

Cherish the Faith,

Yasmin

asalaamu alaikum,

excellent idea sister! MashaAllah!  I've also been thinking about Ramadhan and ways of bringing the community closer together..i'm especially interested in building a closeness within the youth.

perhaps you could incorporate a calendar which will allow the person to track their progress and tick off the days that they completed their fast and mark the days that they didn't complete their fast, to remind them about catching up afterwards.  i'll try to think of more ideas..this is all my sleepy mind can think of right now.

all the best, may Allah reward you for your efforts:)

wasalaam,
Ahmed

Assalamu'alaikum :-)

MashaAllah :) Excellent ideas :)

Just to extend on Br Ahmed's idea..maybe we can have a template of what are the things that we would want to accomplish and/or maintain during/after Ramadhan.

For example, our hifz (memorisation), reading of the Qur'an, the books we want to read, iktikaf etc etc.

Plus, maybe, we can list down, what are some of our characteristics that we want to improve (eg. patience) and the booklet can be a muhasabah (self-evaluation) checklist.

Also, do include the prayers as well as imsak and iftar timetable.

As been said, you might like to touch on fiqh of saum, benefits of saum and how do we improve the quality of our fasts so as to sustain the level of our iman for the oncoming months and beyond. etc etc.

I'm not sure whether "Y Muslims use Lunar calender" would be really relevant here...

Just my thoughts at the moment
Allahua'lam

alsalamu alaykum wa rhmat Allah wa barakatuhu

i think its a great idea to put together a booklet for the benefit of muslims...i really can't think of anything to contribute right now, so i e-mailed my MSA bro's and sis's for ideas..i've gotten one reply so far and i'll keep posting the ideas as i get them insha'Allah ta'ala

**********

I think including some inspiring stories of the companion's fast or the righetous ppl before us would be nice, may their ramadhan schecule (what they used to do to maximize their benefit from Ramadhan)

salam,

these are all really great ideas, mashallah!

maybe you could also include how ramadhan is the best time to get the most done because you get double the reward etc.

i was also thinking maybe suggestions of educating little children about how important ramadhan is and the significance of it...also like rewards that little kids can get for fasting half a day, or even an a few hours to help them out until they realize the true reward is with Allah (SWT)
