| Assalamu alaikum, I am looking for an old post by br. kashif about that circulating petition re: afghani women suffering, etc which was falsely attributed to a prof in brandeis u as the oringinal author. This thing has resurfaced and I want to stop my friends from mass sending it to other people. Anyway, I can't find the appropriate thread with current search tool. Can someone tell me where to find it or in which forum to look for it? Jazak(a/i) Allah khair. I think this might also be a good time to say that the search function using keywords really sux! The other options (by poster name & title?) used to work and I don't see the wisdom behind eliminating them. Admin -Please reinstate them if it is possible. Or maybe post some hints as to how to optimize searching old threads (I have tried many ways till I my head hurt - no avail). wassalam |

as salaamu alaykum, Yes, the search does suck. :) The best way to find a thread is to think of a distinctive word that was mentioned in it that wasn't mentioned in many other threads. For example.. if you're looking for that thread we had a while back on Eid presents.. think about a word in there that isn't used in too many other threads; we talked about Lindt chocolate, there was mention of interesting uses for an egg beater :) "lindt" and "egg" are words I would use in the search. And yeah, you have to do it by folder. Now you know what se7en de la link goes through!!! :P InshaAllah if it's very important you find something, just madina msg or e-mail me and I'll hook ya up inshaAllah. wasalaamu alaykum. |

| Assalamu alaikum, The madina seems deserted in light of a new/old bug that prevents new threads to be posted. But, despair not, replying to OLD threads is OK. And this is proof of that. I posted this little note here, even though it is unrelated to the initial topic, because I can't start a new thread (DOH!) Insha'Allah this will be a chance for us to decrease the clutter of new threads and give old threads a second look (if even that, judging by the rate that people are posting.) :) So go ahead and re-read those loooong old threads, and bring them back to life!
