The Fall

It is Autumn here in Upstate NY. The leaves are at its peak, the air is fresh with the harvest and the sky is so blue.

For the last 40 plus years I have gone to the State Park and walked throught the woods enjoying and marveling over Allah swt creations and majesty.

Since my boy was born I have shared with him my secret places in the forest and have delighted with him our treasure findings of an acorn, a pinecone or that one perfect leaf.

We sit at the edge of the lake skipping rocks and watch the ripples in the water as the geese and cranes fly above.

It has always been my time of contemplation, reflecing on the past year and making resolves. It is a very spiritual time also- as there are so many signs from Allah swt for those who will just look.

This year, for the first time, I was afraid to go. Afraid to be alone with my child in the woods. I am so sad about this.

"The Fall"...

those words no longer mean autumn to me...

Thanks for sharing sis...the state we are in (on all levels) saddens me deeply...
May Allah give us the strength to persevere (Amin).

As salamu alaykum Kathy,

I definitely understand what you mean.  I no longer feel comfortable when I walk outside.  I feel like I'm constantly on my guard.  This past month has made me think about who I really am and where I belong.

As salamu alaykum

asalaamu alaikum sister,

Its Spring down here in New Zealand...for the past few weeks I've been admiring the green leaves reappearing on the tall, majestic trees that line the avenues and the roads around my Uni... I'm reminded of Autumn time, around May when these beautiful trees were shedding their leaves in vibrant reds, yellows and fiery golds- that was the time of my graduation and we took so many really nice photos around that time.:)

As I travel the countryside now, I see new life everywhere- the newborn lambs and calves.  It makes me think about the Majesty of Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala, how such beauty is created and re-created season after season, year after year.

Though recent events may have changed our perception of the world, the world itself has not changed.  The seasons continue, lambs and calves are born, leaves fall in the North and emerge in the South.  The Sustainer still sustains...and your Protector will still protect.

peace to all:)

Beautifully said  Ahmed...It does give me comfort too, to know the universe is moving, timely, and when you do take time out to be inspired by Allah's grand creation, everything else goes back into the "Unreal" category (where it belongs)...
I think in western societies, Muslimmah's are a little bit more vulnerable...its hard to keep a low profile :-)  But then again, its just another trial, that will pass and make us a little bit stronger, wiser, and more faithful to the Most High.....
