wow no replies?! okay heres what we're doing... we got a booth outside of the student center here... my ideas are that one day we'll have a hennah booth set up... some quraan being recited (by basit ofcourse) and some videos on islaam playing, with candy and pamphlets at the tables...

Salam,

Our campus
-Displays
-plan to have a computer with main displays showcasing latest Islamic software, so there will be a multi-media/interactive aspect to it..
-movie and documentary screenings (During the day and evening)
-town hall
-Big lecture
-Little social outing (taste of diversity: cuisines from different regions of the Muslim world. In the same room we will have displays about Muslims in different regions of the world. So they read and learn while they munch.)
-Written Quiz (Ppl have to read the info on the displays to answer the questions) and give out prizes at one of our events (as an incentive ^_~)
-In the past the MSA used to invite converts (reverts) to speak about their journey to Islam (not sure if they are going to do that this year.)One of the speakers last yr was Br. Dawud Wharnsby.

Things we were thinking about but not sure if we will actually do; skits, interactive game show (Islamic version of Jeapordy, weakest link..)
-We will advertise in campus new papers (not just ads but write monthly articles leading up to IAW (our IAW is in Feb),advertise on campus radio, email other capmus groups and send formal invitations to administration. Also had a suggestion box asking campus community what they would like to see in this year's IAW. Got lots of feed back from non-Muslims...many also left their email adresses.
-Might even issue a press release to general media.

                          ***Insha-Allah***

We had a henna booth a few yrs ago but white guys were coming to the booth asking if they can get a henna tatoo. So the srs who were painting were kinda in a little dilemma.

Salam,

We had a booth setup on Monday. InshaAllah we'll have one Wednesday to Friday also. It's going great Alhamdulilah.  A lot of people come and ask questions and have conversations with us.  We play nasheed in the background, write people's names in Arabic, do small henna designs, invite them to look at the literature on Islam we have available.  (by the way, what informational pamphlets do you guys find best? we have a lot from a group based in Chicago, but they're rather dry and out of touch with the way people think. we like the Exploring Islam stuff though. We're planning on writing our own, inshaAllah.)

Yesterday, we had an Islamic art show with a presentation along with a iftar/dinner (at the booth we passed out candies with little messeges about this, it said "fast like muslims, don't eat this candy until sunset.  come for free food Rathskeller, 5 pm).  Today we had a lecture on the foundations Islam is built on.  In the next few days, we're having a panel of converts, a discussion about women, and another one about Afghanistan.  Also, inshaAllah we'll be having an open discussion with other religious groups on campus.

We have this competition going within the MSA for bringing in nonMuslim friends and aquaintences, whoever brings the most will get a prize in the end. We haven't decided what that would be. Maybe a gift certificate for Sound Vision or Iqra bookstore.

InshaAllah it all goes well and we all Allah rewards all the participants for their efforts and helps us purify our intentions.  It's been a little discouraging though.  We had many really good speakers invited, and we had applied for school funding and gotten it to pay for their expenses.  But nearly all of our out of town speakers canceled last minute :( making us scramble all over since we had already publicized.  My dad said these are times when people are afraid of flying and of speaking in public.  I don't know.

We did something really neat after the WTC tragedy (you can still do it now) and it really attracted people's attention!

We at the MSA booth were handing out white roses and on the stem on the roses we tied with ribbon a message of peace..it was a dua. I think it was great...so if you want to have an msa table up I suggest you to do that insha Allah!
