Streach marks are tears in the skin. Some say that cocoa butter will help them fade it time.

If its appearance is displeasing to you or your spouse- you can buy body makeup to cover it. Look for it in the scar makeup section.- Avon has a nice product.

Salaam!!!!

Dont worry about stretch marks. I think most people get them. They fade after several months. As a bodybuilder (male) i got them on my biceps. At first they really stood out, bright red, then purple, after about a year they had faded so much they are now almost impossible to see!

You cannot get rid of them, but they do fade with time. Apparently i heard cocoa butter helps prevent them, but i had my doubts. Not that i used it, i dont even know what cocoa butter is, just heard of it, but anyway you cannot get rid of them.

Maybe they may invent some plastic surgery for it, but at the momemt you have just gota leave them be! They do no harm to you :) Its an Asthetic kind of thing ;)

Bismillah and salam,

I am not sure this would work for stretch marks but you know I feel optemistic because I know it does work for the surgery scar. It is vitamin E. Get one with lots of IU's (I got E-oil from woolmart that is 30,000 IU's for like 5 Can. $'s)

Also, don't worry about them. They are something natural occurring. I think it would be like your story written on your body. And my mothers i remember are softer than the rest of the skin. I think they are nice lines.

So what language was that post of yours in? It made NO sense to me :)

"i heard alotta workin out makes u get strech marks... so leave dat to a minamum, lol"

yeah, i also heard not working out much means you'll die quicker ;) So if its a choice between longer life, and strecthmarks, i'm sure with the boys, the choice would be life. But women, well who knows what they'd choose ;)

A friend of mine said you can't get rid of stretch marks because they are caused when the M-lines in skin are crossed or torn or something like that.

But basically he said that you can't get rid of them, and surgical removing of them isn't worth it either.

So the answer to can you get rid of stretch marks is 'no you can't get rid of them'.

But I think in all honesty the real question here is not how can I get rid of my stretch marks but:
'will my husband find me less attractive when he see's them?'

Bro Kashif pointed out getting them surgically removed isn't worth it and I think the reason he doesn't see its worth is because husbands/bro's will not love you less or find you less attractive for having them :)

You're beautiful sis anon :)

Well no that isn't quite what i meant. I think it varies from husband to husband the extent to which he dislikes stretch marks. Hopefully he would have no issue with them.

I asked my friend whether it was worth having surgery to get rid of the stretch marks and i definitely remember him saying no but i can't remember exactly the reason why. But anyhow, whats to say that surgery removes the stretch mark on your waist and then 2 weeks later you get another one 2cm to the right? What then?

Since this is a kind of biological thread, i wanted to share an amazing Q&A i came across. It caught my eye because i've always noticed that when i'm about to go to sleep i always twitch. Once on the train i twitched so hard i nearly smacked the face of the woman next to me! *laugh*

Anyway Why do we sometimes experience a jolting sensation just before we fall asleep? What causes it? [Paula, Watford England]

Answer:
Experiments with cats has shown that there is a sort of switch in the brainstem (the locus coeruleus) which blocks off the motor nerves when the animal is sleeping. Relaxing the nerves to the muscles, its is thought, prevents our acting out our dreams while we are asleep.
This could obviously be quite dangerous if they happened to be violent. When this region of the brainstem was destroyed in cat experiments, their dream 'thoughts' were translated into action.

They licked themselves, walked around a room and caught imaginary mice. It is thought then that the muscular spasms which sometimes occur when we fall asleep represent a temporary glitch in the switching mechanism. This idea has been reinforced further during sleep experiments. The spasms are more marked when we go straight into a dreaming state.

I know that wasn't quite what you meant but I was trying to make you brothers look good ;) You know many women suffer from complexes regarding their physical apperance and they just want to be attractive for their husbands. And I also hope brothers do not have an issue with stretch marks. If women feel their husbands do not love them less for it than I am sure many would not even consider surgery.

as salaamu alaykum,

Kashif, oh my goodness, that was *so* funny.  I can just see you thrashing about on the train :P

My brothers have this habit of talking in their sleep.. it's hysterical.  One of 'em just started working at a computer company, has a two-hour commute a few days a week.  He's been very stressed, with work on his mind a lot I guess, because he keeps making computer-related comments when he sleeps :)

He's been saying some *crazy* things.. one time some of his friends slept over.. hahahaha.. the next morning they told me all about how when he was sleeping, he out of no where busted out with "I have to work on the robotics of it.."

And my other brother (also a computer geek, but with hardware).. I tried to wake him up one time:

Me: "wake up!"

my bro: "Hand me the wrench."

Me: "What?!???  It's fajr time.. wake up!!  What do you want with a wrench?"

my bro: "I have to fix the thing.. just give me the other kind.. with the small socket.."

:)

Let this be a lesson to you techies.. computers will haunt you even in your dreams :P

Ok my favorite story (he's gonna kill me for telling this..)

Me: "wake up!"

my bro: "the nuns are in grand union!"

Me: "what?!"

my bro: <acting like I'm an idiot> "I *said*... The. Nuns. Are. In. Grand. Union."

Me: ???

Hahahaha.. and of course they deny it when you ask them about it later! :P

Sorry, no relevance at all to the thread.. but kashif started it :P

wasalaamu alaykum.

LOL!!! that was very funny Se7en :)

BUT my true story about talking in sleep is UNBEATABLE!

A guy i know, his sister once told me that while her brother was sleeping, he started barking like a dog! When she tried to wake him, he jumped up and bit her! LOL!!! And then he chased her, she ran into the other room and locked the door!

The next day, the guy didnt remember a thing, and couldnt recall anything!

lol!! Talking ion your sleep is bad enough, but barking in your sleep? That is hilarious!

Anyway back to strecth marks, i guess you can't really turn down a marriage proposal based on stretch marks as they cannot be seen. But then do they really matter? I mean who cares about stretch marks (apart from women)? I'm sure the guys dont.

salam,

HAHHAHAHAH se7en that is sooooo funny,

yea i had experiences with people who talk in their sleep like in myna:   (by the way cocoa butter is the way to go for stretch marks)

at myna (muslim youth of north america) girls are known for sleeping past bedtime, so anyway me and a girl were talking late at night, she was sitting on one bed and i was sitting on another with this girl sleeping on it too,

so all of a sudden i hear mumbling, im like what, she repeats something i totally forgot what it was, and then all of a sudden she gets up in a sitting position, grabs my wrist then quickly lets go and goes to sleep.

HOW FREAKED OUT WAS I ?!?!

i think i started sweating too, subhannalah....

as-salaam alaikum,
As you probably know by now through the other posts stretch marks dont go what ever you do, the only thing you can do about them is wait until they fade so they are hardly visible.

anyways sister anon, dont worry abt stretch marks,
At the end of the day beauty on the inside if far more greater then beauty on the outside.  so sister appreciate what you have and ignore those marks!

mahmoodah: 'i know whta fajr is, couldnt you just say, its fajr, wake up'

asalaamu alaikum,

sorry to go back to the sleep talk thing for a second,

but once i had a friend stay over at my house for 1 month while his parents went to India...

then, I heard his mumble a few nights and let out exasperated sighs in his sleep...

next night, i waited till he was asleep... and when he spoke, i softly whispered, "What?"

and he didn't respond,

then after a while, he began to respond-

and i realized the way to start him off into conversation- full question and answer! i know, i'm bad!

then, i quickly brought a take recorder and made a study out of it... recording time and place, asking different questions...

it was SO freaky...

like his mind just became an open book...

lol and here he is, telling me his frank opinion on on different people (that oi never knew before), how he thought i was too scared to join the school's wrestling team (lol- as i remember it) and even a secret where at the end he was like,

can't tell Anik [me], he would kill me"... but he never did let the whole thing! lol

i told him what happened and gave him the tape later, but it was so cool. lol. i know i know, i should just sleep and mind my own business. :) asalaamu alaikum. abdullah,.

I once stayed over at a friend's house and i was trying to get some sleep, when all of a sudden she sighed and mumbled something. i whispered 'what?'. she mumbled again, i said 'what'?'. then she replied,' oh shut up and go to sleep!'. LOL, i was like, sheeeeeeeesshhhh!!

these are some freaky stories - my older sister and i are temprorarily sharing a room and she laughs in her sleep:

baji: mumble mumble, hahahah

me: what? what are you saying baji?

baji: hahahahah snore!!!

it's hilarious!
mind you she tells me that i do some pretty odd stuff as well, once she was studying late at night and i had gone to bed - suddenly i sat up and started frantically looking for something, looking under my pillow and duvet! :o

the subconscious is a strange thing!!! :o
