Asalaam o'alaikum everyone! I am cooking for a group of 20-25 people on Saturday evening and I need some ideas on what to make. It needs to be something that is quick and easy to do, as I've only got Saturday morning and afternoon to shop/cook/tidyup etc... I was thinking on the lines of a pasta dish, accompanied by garlic bread and salad. 1. Does anyone know of any good pasta recipes ? 2. Any ideas on what I should do for pudding ? Can you suggest something more imaginative than pasta but just as easy to make ? :-) |

Assalamo elikuim How about making karahi chicken(it is very easy, quick and you cnat go wrong) serve it with plain rice(you know if you add chicken curry(cooked a little differnet style with rice it will be biryani - but i wotn advice biryani for 20-25 people unless you are a pro becuase the rice can get soggy and the grains wouldnt be separate)) or just serve karahi chicken with nan/pita bread which you can buy - so you will be cooking just one dish!!. Pudding: sorry dont know how to make it . but how about just making plain custard and add fruits and small pieces of cake and decorate it with jello ontop and your triffle will be ready - here you will be cooking jsut custard(which takes less then 10 min) and jello- rest is just cutting the fruits Wasalam tq |

Assalamu alaikum If you just want something simple like pasta, I'd suggest ravioli. When I was a student I used to live on 5 pound bags of spinach and cheese ravioli from Costco :) You can make a nice creamy sauce to go with it (plain white sauce thinned down a little with cream or milk and with parmesan cheese or sth like that). For dessert, maybe a huge fruit salad (but you have to have the time to cut up all that fuit). I put dates and walnuts in mine. mmmmm!! You can use drinkable yogurt (plain with sugar) in the fruit salad. Or just plain whole fruit, all sorts of varieties. They look beautiful arranged on huge platters. I personally don't think I'd have the patience to cut fruit for fruit salad but if I had 25 ppl coming I'd just buy lots of fruit. Another of my favorite pasta recipes is linguine or tagliatelli with seafood, but not everone likes seafood. Again, it's a white creamy sauce. Seafood is very easy to cook, I just boil it in salt water with a little lemon juice then mix it in with the white sauce. You can put in whole garlic cloves (somewhat crushed) for flavor and then take them out before you serve. For easy cleanup: disposable plates and cups! Phew! I could go on and on about cooking :) For other pasta recipes, try http://recipes.alastra.com |
